Gauteng Cricket president Thabang Moroe has come out in great anticipation of the upcoming cricket season on both internationally and domestically fronts. The season is schedule to officially get underway later this month with South Africa hosting New Zealand for the first two Tests starting in Durban on 19th of August 2016. Moroe believes that the relevant alterations and innovations, mostly effective from 2016/17, have been introduced to the SA domestic and international cricket landscape in a bid to compete pound for pound and strength for strength with other countries and domestic leagues . A member of the Cricket South Africa (CSA) Board of Directors, Moroe, explains the Mother Body’s approach on the recently introduced ‘targets’ for all national teams and franchises on fielding more players of colour throughout the season. Moroe also sang a lot of praise for former Proteas fast bolwer Mfuneko Ngam for the sterling job he continues to do in producing more black African Cricketers at the University of Fort Hare and CSA Joint Venture Project in Alice. Moroe also hit out at CSA following their 25 Years Anniversary celebrations last month saying he doesn’t feel that the history of SA cricket - since 1991 - was celebrated adequately.
