Proteas bowling coach Allan Donald commending the team for the damage control they were able to enforce at the end of the first day of the second Test against Sri Lanka at the Sinhalese Sports Club in Colombo. Sri Lanka finished the day with 305 for 5 and it was the hosts batsman Mahela Jayawardene’s 140 not out that saved the home side after their earlier slump when they stole two early wickets…….
Donald praised Proteas seamers Vernon Philander for his performance with Philander picking up two wickets from his 16 overs while conceding an economical 33 runs which included five maiden overs and was by far South Africa’s best bowler on the day……..
Donald says the Proteas will need to approach the second day with a positive attitude and do everything in their power to get the best out of the first session working in their favour……Journalist: Vata Ngobeni
