. Welcome to the Daily SOAP from New Hope. This is Paton Cadwallader, your guest host for today, Friday, February 3, 2023. Today we will be reading from Romans 8 and addressing the question “What does the Bible teach us about facing challenges and hardships?” I strongly encourage you to take the time to read the entire chapter if you haven’t already done so.
Romans 8 has been referred to by many as “the most wonderful chapter in the Bible” and for good reason. The author, Paul, provides comfort, encouragement and reinforces that our salvation is absolutely secure no matter what difficulties we are dealing with or struggles we are facing. I pray that the following verses (35-38 from the New Living Translation) will provide you with comfort and soothe your soul.
35 Can anything ever separate us from Christ’s love? Does it mean he no longer loves us if we have trouble or calamity, or are persecuted, or hungry, or destitute, or in danger, or threatened with death? 36 (As the Scriptures say, “For your sake we are killed every day; we are being slaughtered like sheep.”[o]) 37 No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us. 38 And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons,[p] neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. 39 No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Through the love and sacrifice of our savior, Jesus Christ, our future is secure, and the battle is won. No matter what struggles and hardships may come our way here on earth, nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. We are His precious children, and He has a plan for us in eternity that is far greater than we can ever imagine. When life’s challenges come your way, keep your eyes focused on Christ. Take comfort in knowing that you are not alone, and He is walking with you each and every step of the way. NOTHING can ever separate him from you. NOTHING.
Let’s close in prayer. Dear Jesus, Life is tough. So many of us are battling illness, depression, anxiety, grief, financial concerns, and physical ailments. Lord, through all of our challenges, may we find our strength in you. May we read your words when we are being battered down and remember that we are not alone. You are with us and you love us. Nothing can ever separate us from you. And most importantly, through your Son, Jesus Christ, the battle has already been won. Help us to cling to you through whatever life throws our way. You are our lifeline who will never leave us, and we give praise and glory to your holy name. Amen.

Our staff and leadership employ what's called the “S.O.A.P. Method”. It stands for Scripture, Observation, Application, and Prayer. Each day, we read one or two chapters of Scripture and focus on one particular verse. We make some observations about how that verse touches us, discern how it applies to our lives, and offer a prayer related to what we have read. -- Donate via PayPal to support the podcasts and the Technical Arts Ministry of New Hope! https://goo.gl/o2a9oU Subscribe at: http://www.findnewhope.com/soap (813) 689-4161 keywords: devotional, bible study
