Getting Better at Being Great 1. Don’t focus on the other 2. Adding value by adding value 3. Failing in love with the work of doing the work (mastery trumps passion) 4. If you’re really getting better, you’ll be in demand I’ve noticed several in my feed offering themselves as a solution to a problem I get it, I really do - but, consider this - If you were so good you can’t be ignored, then why aren’t you the first call from your clients associates (word of mouth advertising) This one has haunted me since I’ve began I absolutely hate self-promotion in any form There’s a line from a wisdom book, “let another praise you and not your own lips” Another says, “live in such a way that even those who don’t like you have nothing negative to say of you” The line, “So good you can’t be ignored,” is game changer for me EVERYDAY If I’m really as good as I say, or think I am, then I shouldn’t have an issue finding work in my space Note to those starting out in a niche - *Offer your work for free - and do an amazing job It won’t be long before you’re naming your own price, and people will be glad to pay it And for the love of God: 1- don’t embellish 2- don’t beg In the words of one who’s gone before me, “Go where you’re celebrated, not where you’re tolerated.”
