This is the first of three weeks in a row of Gospel stories about people who are transformed by the presence of Jesus in their lives.  In the RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults), this is what is called the time of “purification” as the catechumens and candidates get ready to be baptized and confirmed at Easter.
