You do a lot of compassionate things for your child — you work, put a roof over their head, keep the kitchen stocked (as best as you can with these munch-monsters), and stay up after they go to bed to take care of even more things they’ll never think about and for which they probably won’t show much gratitude.
In order to truly grow your child’s trust and felt safety, compassion needs to be seen and expressed in relationship — and nothing hits home like the deeply-embodied sense of the body’s most basic needs being met by someone taking the time to prepare food for them. In other words, your child should see you cook.
