With around a million workers depending on state benefits and no clarity over how long more they'll need help or can't work, The Department of Finance is now forecasting that the economy will shrink by 10 per cent this year. Unemployment could rise to as much as 22 per cent and the gap between what the country makes and what it spends will grow to 23 billion euro this year.
