The parents of American humanitarian aid worker, Kayla Jean Mueller, abducted 5 years ago by ISIS while working in Syria are asking why their daughter’s captors and torturers have not been charged.
In a letter published in The Hill, Mueller’s parents say three of their daughter’s hostage-takers have been apprehended in Syria, but so far none have been charged with the crimes perpetrated against Kayla.
The Muellers report their daughter was tortured, held in solitary confinement, and then raped by ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, who took her as his personal slave before she was reportedly killed in a U.S. Coalition bombing.
“We weren’t able to end our daughter’s torture,” say the Muellers, “but our government can end our torture of not knowing the truth.”
