Silvana Dantu is a South African entrepreneur who spotted a gap in the wine market. After working extensively to promote South Africa to the world, Silvana realised that visiting a vineyard if you don't drink wine, is almost tragic. There isn't much to enjoy if you don't enjoy a tipple. That was how Zari was born. Silvana and her business partner now offer sparkling premium grape juice to the world, to partner champers, so noone is left out of the celebration.

Yesterday, an old Facebook photo popped back onto my feed. It was taken during the 2010 Football World Cup, the year Philip visited SA and black, white, brown and polka-dotted, we stood together, united. Philip left and our gees left with him.
2016 has started with some home truths. For the first time, people are speaking out in a public platform about issues of discrimination, privilege and racism. It's been a heated two weeks and it's gotten impossible to fence-sit. I have however, as a South African of Indian descent, stumbled upon a oft ignored problem. Where does a brown person stand? On which side of this fence are we allowed? And why, aren't we more vocal?
December dragged me off to India for two weeks and it was my first time there. It was everything I have ever been told about and so much more. India is one of those places you have to experience to understand. It's madly busy and noisy but works with such precision that I never saw a traffic accident. Everyone looked like me but in a strange way, it felt wrong. I'm not used to bot being in a multicultural environment and it threw me.
We were also asked several yimes if ours was a "love marriage". Most marriages in India are not and showing any affection, even holding hands, gets you some strange looks. Everywhere has its quirks.
I haven't spoken about Goa in this podcast but I spent the last few days there. It's one large beach party. If you're ever there, find Calamari in Colaba and have the prawn curry. You'll thank me.
