Rick starts this new podcast with Lauren by announcing that life comes at us fast, and we need to learn how to pause, reframe, and think about what really matters and what is important. Lauren jumps in by agreeing with this and adding that there is a greater purpose for everything, even the negative or confusing things. She continues by sharing some of her own story of her loss of a child, and the joy and challenging reality of being an adoptive and foster parent. She also shares a time recently when she had to reframe her thinking through her daughter finishing last in a gymnastics competition, but later telling Lauren that she had the most fun day ever despite finishing last.
Rick joins in by sharing some of his own experiences, including his conversations and time with Rachel Janous, a mother of three who recently passed away. Rick conveys that his time with Janous was such a privilege for him because whenever he would walk out of her hospital room, he felt like his whole life was reframed.
After sharing their experiences, Rick and Lauren spend the rest of the episode explaining that we might know the "why" in our lives cognitively, but we need to be constantly reminded of it, and turn our lives from us being in control to Jesus being in control.
