The who what and where of SMYRC...
Hello and welcome to our SMYRC Cast, your online radio for all things SMYRC. My name is Kashi, I use they/them pronouns, and I’m a staff at SMYRC. For those of you who don’t know what SMYRC. It is Portland, Oregon’s own, Sexual and Gender Minority Youth Resource Center. Its, basically a big gay living room, mixed with like Mary Poppins purse because its not just a community center, its like…so much more. We provide a safer, supervised, harassment-free space for sexual and gender minority youth ages 13-23 who participate in positive activities like art, music, community organizing, open mic nights, drag shows, and support groups. You can receive services including case management, counseling, education, and more. With the goals of increasing academic success and access to jobs, reducing poverty and school drop-out, SMYRC honors, and supports LGBTQI2S+ youth to be their most sickening selves and become leaders in their communities.
Here on SMYRC Cast you can stay up to date on the latest, greatest, gayest, updates about our program, events, and listen to our playlists and shows.
