Aden, a native Washingtonian and graduate of Howard University School of Law (2006), about her experience as a LSIC Civil Division Clinic student attorney and work as Senior Counsel at the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund. During the interview, Leah discusses the impact litigation she works on to protect the legal rights of African Americans. She focuses on voting rights, employment discrimination for people with criminal convictions, environment justice, and desegregation. In addition, she shares how her LSIC clinic experience impacted her career as an advocate, reaffirmed her commitment to serve low-income people who don't have access to power and need it, and taught her that housing is a fundamental human right for all. At the end of the interview, she defines justice as having access to clean water and air, affordable and safe housing, and high quality representation when your civil rights are threatened.
