In the fall of 2018, a team of creative people came together under a partnership between Skwah First Nation and the Artist Response Team (ART) to create school curriculum merging the importance of environmental awareness with Stó:lō language, songs and stories. Thus was born Good Medicine Songs / Éy St’elmexw St’elt’ílém.
The band will be at the Mission Folk Music Festival on Saturday, July 24, at 6 pm on the main stage.

Her multi-disciplinary and solo works have been presented in Costa Rica, France, Germany, Poland, Bulgaria, Israel, and across the U.S and Canada. She was named one of Dance Magazines Top 25 to Watch in 2021. Her solo Bunker + Vault won the Jury Prize for “best indoor choreographic work” at the 2019 Festival Quartiers Danse in Montreal.”

Inverso is in its first stages of research for our new work: “1:1:1”, which explores perception distortion and the neurological effects of living through a screen. How does our mind play tricks on us in the digital realm? Where can we find harmony in a space that imposes the unreal as real? "Dreaming of Koi is a faux-pastoral urban romance, a declaration of wonder for the flora and fauna that exists within and without. Set in the botanical maze of Dr. Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden, a performance of sonic energy and kinetic glow brings art and imagining into relationship with an urban oasis. Here, where inside and outside are poetically merged as one, Dreaming of Koi traverses textures of whimsy and play.
With their performance ticket, audiences will also be able to see Rivers Have Mouths, a new exhibit in the gallery of Dr Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden, that aims to highlight and honour the stories of Chinese -Indigenous relations and connections to land both past and present."

Traditionally, the Heart of the City’s final day of celebration is a concert and delicious Ukrainian dinner at the Ukrainian Hall. This year, however, the celebration will take a whole new format as the Association of United Ukrainian Canadians Vancouver (AUUC) would still like to share their beautiful Ukrainian Culture on the festival’s special Ukrainian Day.
The AUUC invites us to join them online as they share their recipes and history through thought-provoking reflections and discussion, and timeless traditional crafts handed down through generations.
