The Power of Now: A Guide to Spiritual Enlightenment

https://www.linkedin.com/in/matt-seabrook-ab987b26/ (Matt Seabrook) is the owner of Dresher Physical Therapy. Matt founded Dresher PT in 2001 and has built it into two highly respected community-based rehabilitation centers in suburban Philadelphia. Matt graduated Ithaca College with a Master’s Degree in physical therapy and began his career as a staff PT at Abington Hospital, then moved on to treat patients at a large therapy corporation. Matt and his wife Chris then went through what Matt calls “the most challenging thing he ever went through in his life.” Their first child, Tyler, was born with a rare genetic disorder called Hurler’s Syndrome, which most kids diagnosed with did not live to past 5 years old. Matt and wife searched the top medical minds across the country and found a world expert at the University of Minnesota. They soon learned that only way forward at the time to save Tyler’s life was a bone marrow transplant. Tyler’s first bone marrow transplant failed. Then after the second bone marrow transplant and multiple rounds of chemo therapy Matt returned to his staff PT job at the large corporation that Matt said will go “unnamed” to learn that his work colleagues wanted to rally around him and Chris and voluntarily offered to donate their PTO to Matt so he could be there for his family, but was denied by the corporation, and to top it off upon returning home from a trip out to Minnesota, Matt was called into a meeting where he was informed that his salary was going to be cut because of all the time he missed.   Amazing as this sounds, Matt tells us why this was one of the best things that ever happened to him. Matt used this as an opportunity to tackle his dream of starting his own company. Matt describes how he signed his first lease a few weeks after 9/11 in a location that was notorious for having one failed business after another.  So much so, that a noted orthopedic surgeon, the exact professional he was looking to get referrals from in his new business, stopped by while Matt was working to get the clinic ready just tell him that “the last business failed in this location, and you will fall too.” Matt also discusses his leadership style, the book he keeps going to when he needs to clear and refocus his mind. He even shares with us his family’s mission statement Matt also discusses what it was like to lead a small business through the COVID-19 shutdown and the opportunities that COVID opened up for his business.  Oh, and did I mention in the Spring of 2021, That a 22 year old Tyler Seabrook walked down the aisle graduated college Matt is one of those people that approaches life with confidence and optimism. He is self-deprecating and doesn’t take himself too seriously. He is one of those successful entrepreneurs that could easily walk around full of himself and what he has accomplished, but he does the exact opposite Like Matt says in our discussion. “He love the challenge of work, but he really loves the challenge of being a better person.” It’s hard to find a more friendly, empathetic, and inspiring person that Matt Seabrook.
