We sometimes have this image of what it means to be strong as a person who doesn't need others, or someone who can carry others and never need to be carried. But that is just not acurate. Being strong means needing people and depending on God.

It isn't easy, by design. But someone along the way someone told you that spiritual growth is supposed to just happen in time if you just trust God enough. I am here to tell you, that is not entirely true. If you want to change your life, you are going to have to Try Harder!
Change is hard and it requires commitment and lots of willpower. But you can do it. You just need to take one habit on at a time. Don't pray for things that will only come through maturity. Put in the effort to transform your conduct. Then, unlock the power of the Holy Spirit, who will do for you what you cannot do for yourself.
Don't waste your time only growing beautiful leaves so that people can sit and admire how great your life looks, without having spiritual fruit. You need a bigger picture of what your life can be if you change your action. You need a revelation that will bring you to the action that will produce maturity.
Your life is the product of your expectation. Change your expectation, change your life. In today's devotional, Bishop points out the subtle distinction between faith and expectation.
You are going to do what you are passionate about. But if you have been alive long enough, you have come to realize that passion sometimes (often) fades. That is probably the main reason we all have unfinished projects in our lives.
Replace passion with conviction. In this devotion, Bishop leads us in our second step to change our lives. A change of convictions.
In today's devotion, Bishop talks about repentance as a change of mind, not a turning from sin. The Greek word translated “repentance” is Metanoia, and the meaning is simply “a change of mind.”
We are living in the age of consumers. By and large, we don’t make as many things as we used to in the U.S.The great commission is clear though, we are supposed to be making disciples who in turn make other disciples.
In today's devotion, Bishop challenges us to be producers, not just consumers.
One of the most dangerous places to sit in the church is the window seat. Just ask Eutychus, who famously fell asleep at the window while the Apostle Paul was preaching and died.
