Hezekiah’s name means ‘the Lord strengthens. Tonight (and following weeks) is about an amazing man who accomplished much. He takes a throne that has been devastated by sin and rebellion. His own father, Ahaz, was a terrible king who had no interest in the things of God. He destroyed God’s house and the people with him. Judah was ripe for judgment… 

But Hezekiah was different (being different is a breath of fresh air—for us). Way different. I wish we had some of the insights into why/how he came to love God (perhaps it had to do with Isaiah’s influence over his life along with his Godly mother—next verse). We just know that he did everything right. Hezekiah’s story is one of repentance, restoration, and return.
