As the title suggests (Right out of my) Box Mix Summer 2012 is quite literally a mix of records lifted straight 'out of my box' from last weekend.

Some of the records featured in the mix have travelled with us for the best part of a year now and have been thoroughly rinsed here, there and everywhere. Others have travelled with us all year (or longer!) and have never been played out. Some are brand new and have only been played out a couple of times and some are as much as 30 years old but still seem to have validity today, getting the occasional airing.

So the mix, intuitive in that the records are chosen one after the other and mixed in that order, contains examples of all forms of box dwellers - those intended to be played out but the occasion has never arisen, old favourites which have earned the right to travel, new edits that have revitalised oldies, young guns, openers, end of the nighters and re-entry records.

The mix is just over an hour and after being converted from wav to a 320 kbps mp3 weighs in at about 145Mb. It was recorded using Technics SL1200 turntables, Rane MP2016 Rotary Mixer, HHb Compact Disc Recorder and edited in Protools on a Mac. There is some high-pass and low-pass filtering here and there on the blends and a few touches with the brilliant Waves H-Delay.

As usual we aren't making a track listing available for the podcast but if you want to know what anything is, feel free to get in touch and we'll let you know.
