This acrostic Psalm is one that has beauty on several levels (like all Psalms!). There is also a wonderfully intricate chiastic structure at work. Ultimately what David is asking for is God's great mercy through forgiveness of his sin - what we all need so badly. (One thing we didn't mention is that YHWH's name is used 10X in this Psalm.)
