Dehydration is not good. In the extreme case it is deadly. A human being can't live much more than 3 days without water. I doubt any of us have experienced deadly dehydration, but we've all experienced the the mild to moderate versions. But head west and south to the desert of Arizona and you will understand the incredible joy that fills one's soul when, after hiking for hours with no water in sight, you come upon a creek, or a spring. There's no feeling like it. Here's where the plot twists. Jesus may have been physically thirsty, but the person He encounters had a much deeper thirst. Jesus may have asked for a drink of water, but what He offered was a source of refreshment that only the Son of God can provide; Living water!
