On August 6th, 1945 a uranium atomic bomb name “Little Boy” was detonated over Hiroshima, Japan. Three days later a plutonium atomic bomb named “Fat Man” detonated over Nagasaki. Within the first two to four months of theses bombings, a combined death toll rose to somewhere between 150,000-246,000.

It was a terrible era in human history as hundreds of thousands were destroyed. There’s another bomb that detonated, not over a city in Japan, but much earlier in the history of humanity. Biblical Historians call this cataclysmic event “The Fall”. Interestingly, The bombs dropped on Japan and the one that detonated in the garden of Eden are connected. In fact, were it not for the first bomb, the fall, the second two would never have happened. It's all right there at the beginning of God's Word. Let's look at Genesis 3 and see what happened.

I. The Adamic Bomb

A. The Axis of Evil - The Tempter (vs 1)

B. Assembling the Weapon - The Temptation (vss. 1b-6a)

C. Detonation - Sin (vs. 6b)

II. The Fallout

A. Acute Effects (vss. 3:7-13)

B. Chronic Effects (vss. 3:14-24)

C. Treatment (vs. 21)

For Application: 1. Understand Your Nature, Accurately: We have been redeemed but the flesh still remains. How do you live life differently knowing that your flesh is in conflict with your spirit? 2. Expect Temptation, Regularly: How can you be better prepared to overcome temptation when it comes? See 1 Corinthians 10:13. 3. Deal with Sin, Seriously: Are you dabbling with sin in your life? What do you need to do to get rid of it?
