HIStory - The Scarlet Thread Chapter 2: Creation Genesis 1 and 2
Introduction: There is no chapter of Scripture that has produced more controversy in our modern age than Genesis chapter 1. Naturalism, the belief that nothing exists outside of what we can experience with our five senses, has dominated the education system in the U.S. since the end of the 19th century. And it is naturalism that stand in direct opposition to the reality revealed in the first verse of the first chapter of the first verse of the Bible. For in that one verse, "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth", there are profound implications that cannot stand in unity with naturalism. But it doesn't end with scientific naturalism. The rest of Genesis chapter 1 along with chapter 2 present a plethora of foundational presuppositions about life. Every life will be built upon a foundation. The only question is, which foundation is your life built on? I. The Reality of Creation A. “In The Beginning...” B. “...God...” C. “...Created...” D. “...the heavens and the earth.”

For Application: 1. Consider your own life. If good is that which is in line with Godʼs nature or design, is your life in good shape? 2. Like Adam and Eve, we have been entrusted with some of Godʼs stuff. Are you being a good steward or caretaker of His stuff? 3. It says in the last verse of Genesis 2 that Adam and Eve were naked and unashamed. What does that mean and how can we be like that?
