If youʼve been a Christian for any length of time one of the first things you learned is that Jesus was crucified with a sign above his head, “King of the Jews”. A mockery of both Jesus and the Jews, this title was anything but indicative of how the crowds in Jerusalem treated Jesus the day of his crucifixion. But back up five days to Jesusʼ entrance into Jerusalem and what you find is a very different scene. What became a title of mockery began as the serious expectation of a new king. Expectations are soon shattered, however, for the kingdom that Jesus established on this day 2000 years ago was a kingdom not of this world but of heaven.
