Connecting with a seasoned Christian
a. We are introducing the diciple to their Lord and Savior
b. We are not their Father or Answer Man
c. Building a foundation that anyone who teaches Christ can build on
d. We are connecting two ideas
i. Renewing the mind individually
1) But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being
transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as from the Lord, the Spirit. - 2
Corinthians 3:18 NASB
2) and that you be renewed in the spirit of your mind, and put on the new self, which in
the likeness of God has been created in righteousness and holiness of the truth. -
Ephesians 4:23-24 NASB
ii. Of One Mind as a body
e. Being of one mind.
i. "By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another." - John
13:35 NKJV
ii. "that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be
one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me. - John 17:21 NKJV
f. Our growth is measured in our relationship with each other.
i. Jesus replied, "The most important commandment is this: 'Listen, O Israel! The LORD our
God is the one and only LORD. And you must love the LORD your God with all your heart, all
your soul, all your mind, and all your strength.' The second is equally important: 'Love your
neighbor as yourself.' No other commandment is greater than these." - Mark 12:29-31 NLT
ii. So now I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you,
you should love each other. Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are
my disciples." - John 13:34-35 NLT
g. Prayer is the catalyst for walking in the Spirit.
h. Consitency is the catalyst for growth!
i. Curiosity is a catalyst for action.
