For Kyra Santos, an independent consultant and TSgt Hawaii Air National Guard, making decisions together with her husband is a foundational aspect of marriage.

Starting their careers together while still dating created a unique level of discipline and ownership needed for marriage. Life was busy from the get-go. She reminds us that doing life together as partners requires maturing communication skills.

The way we communicate is the key to surviving career pivots, growing families, and selfish impulses. Addressing spending habits took courage, and talking openly about accountability with finances required practice. Physical needs change with each transition, but commitment to getting it done and sticking to non-negotiables keeps the fire alive.

SPEAKER BIO: Kyra Santos a Tech Sergeant in the Hawaii Air National Guard, and the CEO of Shine With Aloha. She started her career with the Air National Guard in 2002 shortly before marrying her high school sweetheart Larry. 15 years later they have three sons, two organizations, and a thriving community of support. She’s passionate about lighting a spark in others to pursue their passions and grow in self-confidence. When she’s not leading a team at work, building her business, or being mom, she serves with her husband at Ukulele Project Hawaii, teaching ukulele and impacting the community throughout Oahu and beyond.
