I needed to ring the airline provider in Atlanta with a timeline question. My question was; “What terminal would be my 19.00 hours connection to LAX?” The southern droll voice replied; “We don’t do military time?” And put the phone down. Two things; We both had accents and I was not familiar, at that time, with the term ‘Military Time.’ This happen a few times and ironically with the same operate. Eventually the penny dropped. I had to say 7.00 pm, in the evening. Who’s right and who’s wrong? The communicator or the listener? The give and take, the two-way in conversation, one of us had to yield, adjust, and think it through to a result. You end up learning a lot and it makes it easier for the next time you have a communication problem. Just Be ready. Because, it will happen.
