Being Successful and Being Popular Are Two Entirely Different Things Part of the reason we started this podcast is because we wanted to explore the far reaches of the WordPress ecosystem. Most of the people who work with WordPress aren’t part of the “WordPress community” at all, but that’s the group that gets the most attention. Why is this? What purpose does the WordPress community serve exactly? How does someone join the community and what are the benefits of doing so? These are all questions we’d like to answer over the course of this show.
Diane is someone who has been working on the web for pretty much as long as it’s been a viable career. She was part of the original dotcom boom and she’s managed 100s of programmers building massive sites with massive budgets. Since then she’s been busy running her business The Versatility Group where she manages projects of various sizes using both WordPress and Drupal as a basis for her work. While her business has always been profitable, Diane has recently felt the urge to start interacting more with the WordPress community. As someone who made this decision a couple years ago, I’m interested to hear more about what’s driving her to get involved.
Joining in The WordPress Fun Diane is already part of the WordPress community, but she’s never really been all that public. You can find her on Twitter talking with her group of friends, but for the most part she keeps her head down and works. This recent decision to be more active in WordPress can be seen with her participation in Carrie Dils’ Genesis Office Hours and her upcoming speaking engagement at WordCamp Miami 2014.
We’re going to be talking with Diane about why she decided to jump into the WordPress space and what she thinks about all this WordPress stuff as it compares to the world she’s lived in the past 15 years.
