Beatrice Coron is a globally recognized illustrator and artist who excels in visual storytelling in books, public art, paper cutting, and wearable sculptures. Her work can be seen in major collections at the Metropolitan Museum, the Getty, and the Walker Art Centre. Her public art is on display in cities such as Los Angeles, New York, and Paris. She briefly studied art at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts of Lyon and Mandarin Chinese at the Université of Lyon III. Beatrice has taken on many roles from shepherdess to factory worker, truck driver, New York City tour guide, and cleaning lady. Before moving to New York in 1984, she lived in France, Mexico, China, and Egypt.

Beatrice joins me today to discuss the artist within us. She reveals how she changed the direction of her life from a mundane to a fulfilling path. Beatrice gives insight into how her creations take form and tells the story of cutting her cape before walking out on stage to give her TED talk. She shares how she built her creative and practical skills as well as techniques, and highlights how everything is connected in the world. Beatrice also shares the importance of defining a space to play and have fun.
