When people make decisions and take positions on various topics, they are often black or white positions that are fundamentally overblown. The right path and solution are usually not found in the simplicity of extremes but actually in the complexity of the middle. We dislike complexity and always opt for the false simplicity of the poles, which is the underlying problem of all the issues we have in America and the world beyond. Polarisation and the pushing apart of tasks, topics, or answers to one of two extremes is a classic human tendency. We fundamentally hate the shades of grey and find safety in the simplicity of black and white, making everything a two-horse race.

Today I share why we should focus on the shades of grey. I highlight how polarized thinking is inherently flawed because nothing is as simple as black or white. I share why we all need to take risks, make more sacrifices, commit ourselves to work harder, read more, think more, debate more, and be more open to change than before. I explore the reasons why we should embrace the likelihood that the answer to the problem is neither black nor white and how history shows us that humankind tends to do the same thing over and over again and yet expect a different outcome. I also highlight how compromise is king and why we have somewhere between an opportunity and a responsibility to understand the problems better to help determine viable solutions.
