A lack of behaviors within humanity that consider sustainability is leading us down a path towards self-destruction. We prefer not to look in the mirror and question our actions today. and instead, choose to wait until enough people have died, and enough homes have been destroyed before we act. Understanding human behavior is crucial, fundamental, and where it all begins, yet we won’t change unless we feel fear or desperation. If there is no personal desperation, there is no action, so we must consider ‘we’ versus ‘me’.
It is time to recognize that this is not about you; it is really about us.
Today I discuss the truth about sustainability and how the issue of sustainability is an issue of behaviors. I discuss why we must fundamentally reflect on what we are doing and why we need to find our inner fear and adopt an attitude of shared adversity. I explore how behavior and our choices are the route to all action, decision making, and consequences. I also highlight the 1% of what matters right now if we want to create a sustainable world.
“The issue we have with sustainability is not enough of us are afraid.” - Chris Colbert
