When life is coming at you—full bore—and you’re facing conflict, struggles, battles...why would you choose to stay in the struggle, the conflict? Why not just bail out?
We could think about those who faced combat in World War II, the Korean War, Vietnam, the almost 10 years in Iraq. Why did our soldiers not bail? They were obeying orders, defending our nation, seeking to halt aggressive nations, Hitler, communism, Saddam Hussein.
Why are people in conflictual sports, i.e. football, hockey, lacrosse, etc.? To win. To earn a scholarship. To make a good income. To prove oneself. So why will those of us who are married not bail out and call it quits? We’ll see what God’s Word says in Paul’s first letter to the Corinthians (7:8-16).
