How often have you been discouraged because what you and others thought was a good plan just fell apart? You were convinced God was calling you to this; it’s what He wanted you to accomplish. But instead of God opening doors and things going smoothly, you faced opposition and resistance. And pretty soon, you throw up your hands and say, “Enough is enough,” and you quit! That could well have been how Israel was feeling when they stopped working on rebuilding the Temple, and 16 years go by. But then Zechariah brings God’s message to His people. What they heard from Zechariah is exactly what we need to hear today … when things aren’t going like we thought they should. So what’s the answer? Be Encouraged. No matter what you are facing you can be encouraged when you see who our God is, and that’s our text, Zechariah 1:7-2:13.
