The book of Isaiah contains some of the most hopeful passages about the Messiah & God’s Kingdom.  These verses are oft quoted in the Advent season but then quickly forgotten with the pressures of  new year. Behind these prophecies and one liners of Isaiah is a gritty and dark context that makes these text even more beautiful than the coffee mugs and insta posts convey. In Isaiah, we find so much more than proof texts for the arrival of Jesus! 

In the dark and gritty context of Isaiah, we see a world that desperately feels of the sting of sin and of leaders who perpetually let down others while clinging to power at all costs. In these dark moments,  there is a promise of of a better kingdom. A Kingdom whose definitions of forgiveness, redemption, and justice are better than any other kingdom can claim. In our weeks together, our aim is to identify and align ourselves to that better Kingdom.
