In a world full of opinions and anger, I think it’s time we have a conversation. Here we will chat about life, love, chronic illness, marriage, friendship and so much more. Whether your listening or joining in, let’s have a conversation.

Something I’ve learned over the years is being chronically ill or physically disabled in the Christian community can get so weird. The number of times I’ve been prayed over for healing even when I’ve explained my spirit of joy and transformation and gratitude to God for using my sickness to heal my spirit is numerous. Even more so, the disappointment and confusion when I say I’m healed but there is not a physical miracle in my body for people to see and reference is unsettling. I think we as believers may need to rethink what healing means when it comes to the chronically ill and when it comes to our walks with Jesus. So let me dive into that here.

have you ever been so happy it literally overflows? Or has someone been so joy filled that you almost get rubbed the wrong way from it? Where does this all stem from? Here is a quick and windy morning full of what Jesus has been teaching me about joy and anger and really just seeking him in all the corners. It was windy this morning and I was out of breath but man God just put this on my heart. I’ve been walking through a lot and I hope even a fraction of what He has been teaching me, can bless you today.

I’m so excited to have my childhood pal and best friend Jordan on this week! We are talking about what we are all looking for when we seek closure and how friendships begin and end. Where are we hoping for Justification? or Reconciliation? Or is there some resolution in it all? Who knows, so let’s talk about it!!

I’m so happy to have my pal Meg whose a very successful boudoir photographer on the podcast this weekend for a chat on body image, body dysmorphia, self confidence and all the other things eating disorders encompass. A week is never enough time to educate and bring awareness to such a big topic, but here in this chat we will reflect on our hearts for it and why it’s so huge to talk about.

Depression is.. so different from crawling under your covers and not coming out for days at a time. It looks like that too sometimes, but just as health and life isn’t one size fits all, neither is mental health or life with depression. It’s all kinds of different than what I expected and it’s always catching me off guard. So let’s chat about it.

Marriage is hard but I think the way we as a Christian people view it, teach it and approach it in the church is making it harder. I’m frustrated with it, and from personal experience find it to be limiting and isolating. So. I’m doing my best to talk about it, and hope my ramblings open the door to some change down the road. Cus the church, in my opinion has it all wrong.

Whether it’s with your significant other, your best friend, or some rando on the street.. most of us don’t fight fair. We say things that will hurt, we push the right buttons on purpose and we are everything proverbs tells us not to be. Remember that whole slow to anger slow to speak? After a week of discomfort and arguments, I think its worth asking the question of why we are so combative, or passive, what conflict looks like and how we can handle it better.

This episode my good pal Christine hops on the show to talk about friendships and how complicated they seem to be when as a girl, we don’t quite fit in with other girls but we can’t simply be one of the guys either. So where does that leave us? And is it alright to be stuck somewhere in the middle? And with a resounding effort, we remind you that yes it’s okay, and don’t you worry it gets easier to navigate.

I couldn’t pick a topic, so I invited Ry guy on the show to get all up in his feelings, tell you what it’s like to be married to me and all the other stuff he mentions. Welcome to the first interview of the show! More to come, but for now, enjoy my guy, Ryan.

God gave my word for 2021, and it’s ABUNDANCE. I am so excited to see how God manifest His abundant goodness in this new year. I am equally excited to see I can serve others first to accomplish the fullness of this word and it’s depth in my life. In regard to this, I’m reminded of how much words impact others and how they impact me. So I’m offering a friendly reminder that words hurt, so offer them intentionally and kindly only as you’d like them to be offered to you.

why do we do New Years resolutions when we have the opportunity to change and be better than we were yesterday.. everyday? Instead of resolutions I now choose a word. A word that God gives me for the year that shapes the way I approach things and people and choices. For 2020 it was Clarity, what will 2021 bring?

Okayyyy, so everyone always asks why bad things happen to good people, or why God allows such hardship. I just got gospel smacked by the truth of this difficult question, so I am now going to do my best to convey it to you as it was just laid out for me. Today - let’s rest in and dive into Matthew 13:24-29.

Church hurt shouldn’t be a thing. But since it is, let’s chat about it. People walk away from the gospel for all kinds of reasons but I think being burned by the church is way too big of one. So let’s have a chat about how humanity occasionally does a real bad job of being like Jesus, and how we are getting in the way of Gods work when we act like idiots trying to be God and think we can do the work better than He can. Oh, and if you’re thinking, but Emily you love Jesus, you’ve never known church hurt. Do I ever have a story for you.

Let’s talk about how I came to Jesus, how good God is and all the things. In light of Christmas coming up, I think it’s only fair to chat about my fav ABBA Father for a bit. The last few episodes were hard to share, harder to live and probably hard to hear. So time for Joy. And the best joy I know is Jesus. Don’t forget you guys, if you’re not dead, Gods not done.

I can’t possibly be the only one that’s had something happen, or in my case, a lot of events happen that drastically change, limit or alter my life in ways I can’t return or rewind. I’ve had so much taken from me without my permission.. so I think it’s time we have a conversation about that stuff, and how the hell you say goodbye to a life you never got to have.

I’m a mess, day in and day out. Sometimes it’s not so bad, sometimes it’s worse and sometimes it’s somewhere in the middle and I just shoot and hope I don’t miss ya know? So if you want to know a little bit of the ins and outs of being me.. here ya go.

I figured I’d give y’all a little background (the very short and condensed version) on me and all the things chronic illnesses. It’s long overdue, but will hopefully help you understand who I am and what I’m dealing with. This is part one, so stick around for part 2 next week.

Just because you can see through something doesn’t make it clear does it? We are all so busy judging and deciding what is true, we forget that our perception isn’t always reality. So let’s all take a step back from playing judge and jury shall we?

Let’s have a conversation about body shaming, body dysmorphia, eating disorders, unsolicited opinions, modeling and all the other things. I’m tired of the shaming and the feelings of loneliness or isolation that comes with all things body. So after being prompted many times this week, we are gonna talk about it.

We are not promised tomorrow, so why do we waste today? I’m only given so much energy with this body trapped by chronic fatigue, but I’m still finding adventure and joy and meaningful moments. So should you. Whatever that looks like for you, go make a memory. It’ll be worth it.

In this episode I ramble about being a decent human, a better friend and showing up with intention. We may be an instant gratification society, but there’s nothing gratifying about an empty conversation that leaves you lonely and questioning why you spoke up at all. Leave space for kindness, leave space for authenticity. It’s worth it.
