Avoiding Chaotic Currents of Culture
Michael Lodge, Speaking Pastor
After establishing the Exaltation of Jesus in Chapter 1, Paul moves on to help the Colossians establish themselves in Christ. The Colossians were in a community that was at risk of being swept away in the trends of gnosticism, legalism, and humanism. How could they be a people resistant to falling back into these empty philosophies? In verses 1-10, Paul shows us how to avoid these chaotic currents and fix ourselves on the exaltation of Jesus.

An Altered Life, Not An Altar Call
Michael Lodge, Speaking Pastor
When Christ is exalted we see the fullness of who He is and all He has done. This moves us far beyond responding to an altar call to an altered way of living. Paul uses this section to show the Colossians that He has found something worth living for. If you want your life to matter and have the energy for your days, then you need to find the subject and purpose worth living for. Are you willing to respond to the exalted Christ with a life used to proclaim Him?

Preeminence Yields Worship, Work, & Witness
Michael Lodge, Speaking Pastor
Paul uses an early church song in this passage to declare an eternal and central truth about Jesus. He is preeminent! Jesus is fully God and has made Himself manifest to us in a way that displays His place over creation, inspires our work as the Church, and fuels our individual purpose. His preeminence gives us reason to worship, desire to work, and a story to bear witness about. The question is not whether or not Jesus is preeminent. The question today is are we living in His preeminence?

The Word, The Truth, The Gospel
Michael Lodge, Speaking Pastor
The book of Colossians is Paul's exaltation of Jesus. But before digging into this book, we want to ask ourselves how much we exalt the greater book. Do we lift up the Word of God and value it as much as we value the breath in our lungs? Today, we begin our study by lifting up the miracle of His Word.

Suffer Like Jesus

The unfortunate reality of living in a world broken by sin is that we absolutely will experience brokenness. Suffering and experiencing trials is guaranteed for all. But there is good news. James directs us to be full of joy in the midst of our trials. This strange statement directs us to the new reality that we can only have in Jesus. The Gospel is the Good News that shows us that suffering isn't the end of the story. Today we see the hope that can be found in suffering like Jesus.

Michael Lodge, Speaking Pastor
Why is abiding in Jesus so important? What is the endgame? It may be shocking to come to the realization that our personal salvation makes up only a little percentage of the content of the New Testament. Jesus calls us to abide in Him. One of the main ways we are to do this is through our relationship with the Word of God. Today we will learn from Dr. Daniel Wallace's study of New Testament manuscripts to see if we can trust in what we have today. We are a church that believes every follower of Jesus is a disciple and every disciple is a disciple maker. Jesus gave the Disciples (and us) a clear mission to go and make disciples of all nations. And that starts in our Church. Today we define for ourselves what a disciple is and look at Jesus’ challenges to mature His disciples. We want all the exciting things coming from our Church to be rooted in the relationships that grow disciples. Where are you on your path to spiritual maturity?

When we read Romans through the filter of our personal salvation story we miss the point of the letter. The Gospel we find in the letter of Romans is bigger, deeper, and more powerful than just a brief outline of salvation. The Fundamentals
Mitch Corea, Student Ministries Pastor
The faith of the church in Rome was known throughout the world. Paul wrote to them with hope and anticipation to meet them one day and use this body to spread the Gospel further than it had gone before. He also knew of some division amongst the Jewish and Gentile believers in Rome. It was for these reasons that Paul wrote to the church in Rome his most complete explanation of the Gospel. Even still today, this letter serves as one of the greatest ways to know the fundamental truth of the Gospel of Jesus from beginning to end. It is as imperative for believers today to know this letter as it was for the original recipients in Rome a couple thousand years ago.

There are so many gifts to be opened this season. But only one gift can change the world. We look in so many places and often miss the one gift that really matters. This Christmas Eve, we will look at the Birth Of Jesus and find the gift we’ve really been looking for.

The Good King
John Reynolds, Family Ministries Pastor
We are all looking for answers, for a solution, for salvation from the things that have gone wrong in the world around us. Many people say the answer is found in addressing the big social issues of our day. Jesus came to be the answer, the solution, and our salvation, any answer outside of him and his good design will never fully satisfy. Join us today as we look at how Jesus is “The Good King”, the king for our good and his glory and that makes him the best gift we could ever find at Christmas!

The Christmas King
Pastor Michael Lodge, Speaking Pastor
Jesus is the Christmas King! So why did so many people miss Him as the Messiah? People's political expectations caused them to look for a different kind of King. Today, we look at the Christmas story and Colossians 1 to find the true gift of the Christmas King for our hearts, life transformation, and peace in our world.

Go Make Disciples
Pastor Michael Lodge, Speaking Pastor
In Acts 6, we see the Apostles walk the Church to maturity in their faith. For the first time the Church is referred to as "Disciples". And we see that the Disciples are multiplying greatly! This was Jesus' plan from the beginning. To make Disciples who would make disciples in Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, and the ends of the World. Have we moved from simply following Jesus to being a Disciple-Making Disciple?

Living Boldly: The needed next step
Pastor Michael Lodge, Speaking Pastor
Jesus relationally grew the disciples to be more like Him. This was a process where they came and saw who He was, accepted the call to follow Him, and then to take the next step! Today in the Chapters 3 & 4 of Acts, we see the Disciples walk the Church through the same process. Today, they are challenged to take the needed next step in living boldly like Jesus and for the mission of Jesus. What is your needed next bold step?

Acts: Follow Me
Pastor Mitch Corea, Student Ministries
Near the end of Acts chapter 2, we read of 3,000 new believers being saved and baptized. The obvious question one must ask when first professing faith in Jesus is: What now? It's assumed that our life will change when choosing to follow Jesus, but how? What does that mean? Today we take a look at what the apostles did with these new believers in the early church and how it is modeled after what Jesus had done with them during His earthly ministry. The hope is that we will be inspired and perhaps challenged to live a life following Jesus as they did and teach others to do the same.

Acts: Come and See
Michael Lodge, Speaking Pastor
Do we realize how intimately tailored Pentecost was for the Jews? In Acts 2 we see the Holy Spirit come in power just as promised. But we also see Him come in a way that spoke directly to the people so that they could hear the good news. This demonstration of power was an opportunity for the Jews of many nations to COME AND SEE the good news of Jesus the Messiah. Was Peter ready for this opportunity? Are you ready for the COME AND SEE opportunities that the Spirit wants you to use?

The Mission Continues
Michael Lodge, Speaking Pastor
Today we unpack Acts 1:8 the thesis, scope, and heart of the Book of Acts. Jesus gives the disciples an impossible mission. One they could not conceivably accomplish on their own. What does it mean to be a witness and to take this message to the end of the world? Could we be a part of continuing this mission?
Michael Lodge, Speaking Pastor
The book of Acts is the continued account of how the gospel of Jesus went on to change the world. The impact of His life, death, and resurrection moved beyond the twelve disciples. The impact was multiplied as the gospel was passed from person to person and community to community. The gospel was now changing lives and the world around them. Are we a church that still multiplies the impact of the gospel truth? Click on the links below for additional Cascade Church resources.

We spend a day in the Word of God to find rest in the person of God. We also find Sabbath rest in the blessings God speaks over us. The Word is not only His history. Finding Real Rest
Pastor Michael Lodge
Have you ever gotten to the end of a day off only to feel like it was wasted? How can you have time off and feel less rested than when you were working? Many of us waste our Sabbath because we don’t know how to find real rest. Today we find the third element to complete our Sabbath. Stop… Remember… and Rest in Worship. Something happens deep inside of us when we take the time to find rest in worshiping who God is! Do you want to find real rest? It’s already been given to you! Why are you living life without it?

Expectations affect experience. This is just as true in our faith as it is in life. But how do we form reasonable expectations that lead to a joyful experience in our faith life? That has everything to do with how we position ourselves in life. As we hear the words of John the Baptist, we find something foundational for our faith. Right position before God sets appropriate expectations that lead to a joyful experience! Are you positioned to experience abundant life?

John's gospel was written to a people very similar to us. John chose very specific events and words from Jesus to challenge and encourage the world around him. Many people were defining truth to meet their own needs. Others were trying to find life in an empty religion. John was sharing the message that abundant life could only be found in Jesus Christ.

The Jews that were being written to lived in hard times. They were under immense pressure, persecution, and heavy life circumstances. In the midst of this they were called to run a race. As we read in Hebrews 13 we find that it is not a solo race of survival. They were called to thrive in the mission of Jesus' life and run the race together.

Is my faith only individual and are groups optional? That’s a question that frames much of our life experience in Jesus. In Acts we find only 16 verses that describe the first 14 years of Paul’s new life in Jesus. These 16 verses created the foundation for the next 10 years of Paul’s life on the road. In these first 16 verses Paul gives a face to the 10,000 unnamed early converts. How were these converts cared for and discipled? How did what Paul experienced frame how Paul set up the early church to explode with growth? The answer to all of these questions is the necessary shift from ‘me’ to ‘we’.

The first Christians were known as people of The Way. People who were fiercely committed to the reality that Jesus is The Only Way, that He alone is the way, the truth, and the life. This led them to form small groups/churches where they were deeply known, cared for, grown, and held accountable to fulfill Jesus’ Great Commandment and Commission. This week we look at The Way and what that means for us today.

What does it mean to be a marriage IN CHRIST? The church was asking this question. The city of Ephesus had a dark understanding of what this relationship looked like. Multiple wives, multiple concubines, multiple trips to the temple for “worship”... In chapter five, Paul spent less time writing about what was prohibited and more time celebrating what Jesus had to offer in the married relationship. Before we can be a light to the world we have to see this reality in our faith family. God has a big vision for the church at Ephesus. This big vision is only possible if every member realizes they have a role to play and call to answer. God has given us the same call as a church in Monroe! We have lived through and are living through a traumatizing time. Many will probably suffer from some form of PTSD. The Church in Ephesus was living through a traumatizing time as well. They could easily ask “What do we do with what has been done to us?” Instead, Paul redirects their attention and asks “What do you do with this life transforming truth?” Because the Church focused on this truth their lives were transformed and they experienced Post Traumatic Growth in Christ. Circumstances change all the time and can negatively affect our lives. As they grow in their need for water the faithful Shepherd leads them to what will satisfy their thirst. Only the Shepherd knows where to find still waters in a land dry and arid. Can we find satisfaction in the comfort of submitting to a Shepherd that knows where to lead us?
When we know our Shepherd more something grows within us. The more we understand who He is and what He continues to do in our life, the more at peace we become. In the shadow of our shepherd we find peace and rest. Today explore the four ways our Shepherd watches over us to make us find this rest.
Today we wrap up the One Another series with the make it or break it One Another. Connect with One Another! If we don't connect we can't implement any other one another. In 1 Corinthians 12 Paul uses the analogy of a body to drive home the point that it is not an option to be disconnected. We must connect so we can become who Jesus wants us to be and step into the mission He has called the Church to.
In Galatians 5:13 Paul tells us that our freedom in Christ should be used to serve one another. This idea seems to counter much of what our culture tells us. What does it mean to serve? Why should it be a priority in our lives and how can we do it?
Now more than ever we need encouragement. Hebrews is a book for those struggling to hang on! Today we will be encouraged by the author of Hebrews and hear the call to encourage those around us.
Can we be honest enough to agree that we are not perfect? In an imperfect world filled with imperfect people we are bound to hurt one another. Most of us have a story of unforgiveness. A time when we were wronged, hurt, or misunderstood. It is so easy to block someone on facebook, defriend, and unfollow when relationships get hard. But Jesus calls us to radical forgiveness based on His forgiveness toward us.
Hospitality was a distinctive characteristic of the early church where people felt wanted, accepted and welcomed! Hospitality opens doors into living alongside each other!
Today we start our series on Galatians. Now more than ever we need to be ready to live out and give people the Gospel. But to do that we need to know what the Gospel is! Many times we can become so familiar with something that we have a hard time putting words around it. In this series, we will fall in love with the Gospel. We will see how it changes our lives every day. And hopefully become more passionate about giving the Gospel to a world in need.
The Gospel of Jesus brings new life, and the resurrection is the culmination of the gospel. Join us for our online celebration services as we examine the encounter that changed the Apostle Paul’s life forever and ask the question, “Has the Gospel brought ME new life?”
Galatians 2:1-10, Luke 15:11-32 Today we look at two groups of people and compare them to the Older Brother and the Younger Brother in the prodigal parable. Jesus’ plan is for the gospel to bring us from different places to a unity found in the truth of the pure gospel. Jesus did the work. Jesus died for all. So all can come to Him and be unified in the gospel.
Pastor Joel Madson - Galatians 2:11-21 If the gospel is alive in our lives then our lives should reflect the gospel.
Dan Bushy - Pastor & Missionary. This passage is a call to the church about the great work that Jesus Christ did for us when he died on the cross. It shows us that we can not earn God's righteousness, His forgiveness, His acceptance or His love by our own self-righteous works. We must come to Him in faith for the duration of our Christian walk.
May 10th, 2020 - Pastor Michael Lodge The Gospel is good news that will take a life time to explore! Jesus gives us the free gift of salvation through faith in what He has done. We don't have to earn our salvation by good works. So what happens to the Law? Does it serve a purpose? Today we will see how the Gospel changes our relationship with God and the Law. Something that used to be a burden has now become an expression of Love!

Galatians 5:1-15 What do we do with the Freedom that Jesus has given us? We are so quick to use it for our own selfish purposes. In today's climate and with all the issues facing our Church, Community, and Country we need to hear from the Word of God. Our Freedom is given to us to love our Neighbor!
June 21st, 2020 - The gospel should change everything in our lives. Paul calls us to check our attitudes and be intentional with our relationships in the easy times as well as the difficult times. The gospel changes the way we forgive, challenge, and bear each other’s burdens. The gospel should change the way we relate to our friends, families, and community relationships.
Pastor Michael Lodge - Galatians 6:6-18 Today we wrap up Galatians. This is Paul's final plea for the readers to return to the Gospel and experience it's life-changing love. As we read along can we find our hearts responding to the call of the Gospel!

His Power from the Pit - Finding God's transforming power in difficult circumstances. Pastor Michael Lodge
In the first chapter of Jesus's Sermon on the Mount he repeats the phrase "but I say" several times. What follows is always a call to more than we would ever call ourselves to.
Jesus's invitation to pray deeply, live generously, worry less, forgive more, and so much more are all dependent upon us hearing his words and living them out. Today we listen...and live. This is "solid foundation" living.
Last week we started the One Another Series. Today we look at the one “One Another” that begins them all! Jesus gave the command to Love One Another to the Disciples to define them and the Church for the rest of time. 2,000 years later this command still challenges us. This One Another is the brand that defines us within the Church and to the world around us. We can’t practice any One Another without first understanding how to Love One Another.
Are you suffering from O.A.D? One Another Deprivation? Then this series is for you and everyone else that follows Jesus! We Need One Another! All through the scriptures we are told to love one another in many different ways. Today we start the series by looking at the churches historical need for the "One Another's" and why we need them today!
June 14th, 2020 Galatians - Galatians 5:16-25
There is a battle that rages in each of us between the flesh and the spirit. As we walk in step with the Spirit we will overcome the flesh and produce the fruit of the spirit.
May 31st, 2020
The Gospel is good news! We have been saved from an old life and adopted into a new family. With that family comes a new family name! Jesus wants to change not only you but your future family line as well! He changes us to change the future. Join us as we study Paul's analogy of our family name.
As followers of Jesus our path is always before us and never behind. Our eyes stay focused on Christ and our identity in Him. This leads us to a life spent loving God, living out the good news, and sharing the gospel wherever God leads us. The gospel is what we love, we live, and we give. What has become of the gospel in you and your identity in Christ?
Galatians 3:25 - 4:7
Pastor Michael Lodge
When we understand our identity as an adopted child of God everything in our life changes! Jesus gives us the Spirit of adoption by which we cry out “Abba”! We now have a new motivation for living life. We get to bear the resemblance of our Father. We have assurance, intimacy, freedom, and an inheritance! When we connect with our lives as children of God we find an exciting new identity to live out!
Keith Ferrin, Author & Speaker
We live in a society that treats the Bible as an out-of-date, religious text. Maybe it was valuable a long time ago. But not today. Or is it? We'll kick off this 3-week series by exploring why would should read the Bible.
We are overwhelmed with abundance and resources in life. It’s easy to live as if we don’t really need God. Jesus calls us to Fast for the King’s agenda. In fasting we remind ourselves of our great need for God and our need to fall in line with Him. This is a means of grace that He uses to draw us into His presence.
February 9, 2020 - Prayers of Intimacy
Pastor Michael Lodge
We want to have the King's Agenda for our lives personally, and for our church. Today we will see how Jesus calls us into private moments of prayer to hear His voice for our lives. If we want to know His agenda we have to spend time with Him in prayer. Don't miss this invitation to a life of prayer and intimacy!

Praying Like Jesus
Keith Ferrin, Author & Speaker
Jesus prioritize prayer. In the Sermon on the Mount - where he's teaching disciples to live like disciples - He shares "how" to pray. We'll look at the model of Jesus and the method of Jesus when it comes to prayer.

Living the L3 Life: We Have a Purpose We Can't Live Without
Living Generously is about recognizing that everything we have, our time, talents and treasure come from God. He expects us to put those things to use to further His kingdom. When we intentionally fulfill this expectation, we find purpose that we can’t live without!

Love People: Life is Better Together
John Reynolds, Senior Associate Pastor
Though we did not deserve it God loved us and sent his Son to show us how much loved us. Our response, as followers of Jesus, can't help but be to share that same love with others. Loving People is the natural expression of God’s love for us. What should that look like in our church? If I’m living the L3 Life what does Loving People really look like?
We want to go into the new decade ready to Love God, Love People, and Live Generously. L3 is who we are at Cascade Church! We want it to be more than a slogan. We want L3 to be the life we each live. Over the next four weeks we will explore what each of these statements mean and how we can live the L3 Life!
We have a better understanding of who we are when we discover WHY we are. Today we hear more of our history as a Church and Denomination and discover why we are the Church we have become. The real "WHY we are" Cascade is anchored in our commitment to Love God! So how do we start to Love God in our personal lives? Everything in our life is anchored to our ability to Love God more deeply.
Dan Bushy, Associate Pastor
As we look at 2020 we need to make sure that we going after God's goal for our lives. Today we are looking at a story of one of the tribes in Israel and how they compromised in their call and didn't go in to possess their promised land. We will see the lessons we can learn from their mistakes and aim to be better ready for what God has in the future for us to do.
Three characters, and not the usual ones, tell their stories of encountering the newborn Messiah. Each character brings their own unique twist in this one-man comedy and drama.
You’ll not only laugh – you’ll come away with a fresh, new perspective on the greatest gift ever given!
The wise men went on quite a journey together. An unexpected journey. We all have our share of unexpected journeys. Let's learn together some of the lessons of the wise men.
Joseph & Mary. Zechariah & Elizabeth. We can learn some lessons from them about how to respond to the unexpected.
Things were growing out of control for the early Church! The Spirit had empowered them to a vision that was accelerating quicker than expected... The Church became a movement known NOT for it's building, programs, or speaker. Church quickly became identified by its radical love for each other. It was a place where lives were transformed, hearts were cared for, needs were met, and the world was changed. What would Cascade Community Church look like if we were transformed by the Spirit and lived transformed together?
Acts 5-6 The Spirit was doing a huge work in Jerusalem! But it was just the tip of the iceberg in the vision of what was to come. How did the Church live in times of such brokenness? If the vision Jesus gave the disciples was going to take hold the people had to own the work! They couldn’t go to church they had to be the church. If the broken world was going to experience Jesus the Church had to become the Body of Christ. How will we live in our broken world?
Acts 2:1-13; 40-41
I’m sure the disciples were struggling with “I miss Jesus”, things aren’t going to be the same without Him” The voice that had led them for three years was gone… But Jesus didn’t leave them without a Vision. Jesus was gone but He gave them a ministry statement and a vision to run with. GO into all the nations and make disciples. Today we will find ourselves in the story of Acts chapter 2 and be encouraged to hear that God has given us a strong vision to run with.

A brand new series that will take us through the first six chapters of Acts. Learn how the Disciples were led by the Holy Spirit through a great transition, laying a foundation for the greatest movement and growth in church history. The Kingdom of God advanced because the Disciples chose to step into action with the Holy Spirit.
Jesus doesn't save us to leave us where we are. The life of a Jesus follower is a journey and He's not finished with you yet! So press on!

Something's coming - you can feel it.It might be God but you're not sure. How is God going to see us through? The apostle Paul had these thoughts in mind when he writes to the "Church of his Heart" in Philippi. And God's Word has the same message for us today.
September 29, 2019 Nate Hettinga, Lead Pastor I Want to Know Christ - Philippians 3:7-14 Pastor Nate is back from sabbatical and shares his Origin Story of faith and following Jesus, no matter where He leads. The message is centered on Nate's "life verses" in Philippians 3.
Peter is possibly one of the most relatable of Jesus' disciples that we read of in scripture. A normal man, a tradesman, with plans of his own, until one day God called him to something greater. What can and will God do with us if we learn, like Peter, to answer God's call.
James the brother of Jesus, did not believe Jesus was the Messiah, but his life was radically changed when he saw his brother resurrected. He lived the rest of his life seeking to lead others to faith in Jesus. We all get only one life, what will you do with yours?
In all of our stories, there are times of struggle in obeying the voice of God. Today we look at one who ran from God's grand invitation to enter into His story. Jonah, like each of us, had a choice to obey or not. Jonah chose to say "No!" to God because of his cultural bias. God did not give up on Jonah but gave him a second chance to join in God's story.
"It's not me, it's GOD." This sounds so simple and trite and yet it really is the truth for salvation and living salvation out. Today we take a look at how a transformed life is All GOD and how HE includes us, by HIS grace, to be a part of this miracle of new life in JESUS!
Thankfully God has given us examples in scripture to learn from, good and bad. In Abram we see both as he steps out in faith but is shaken along the way. The biggest mistake we can make is not listening and missing the call. God give us ears to hear and hearts to obey.
The heroes of our faith loom large in the epic stories - our stories. Men and women like us, broken and weak, but with courage to believe that our God keeps His promises. Every story pointing to the Promised One. Every act of faith helping us believe, again, that God still tells His story in the lives of those who live by faith.

For over 2000 years, Jesus Christ has been disrupting the status quo. Mark records the life and teaching of the Messiah in vivid detail, revealing how Jesus raised up disciples who were then given the charge to change the world. God Uses unexpected means in the lives of his devoted ones to make them holy.
A couple days after the Triumphal Entry. A couple days before the Last Supper. Jesus has eight encounters with religious leaders in one day. Each conversation leaves us with a question we need to ask ourselves. Today we'll unpack the eight questions.

Jesus is drilling down on what it means to be his disciple. As the cross looms over the horizon, he calls his followers to "lose yourself in the only cause that matters." #winning
We make thousands of decisions every single day. Most won't really impact our lives all that much. But some decisions really matter. Like the one Jesus asked his disciples to make when he asked, "How about you. . . who do you say that I am?"

After 5000 people were fed by Jesus, the religious leaders get after him for not washing his hands properly. The Master uses the opportunity to talk about tradition and truth, religion and righteousness. Turns out, the heart of our problem is a problem with our hearts.
Mark loves a good action story -- and today we look at 3 adventures in Jesus' life: the murder of John, feeding 5000 hungry people and Jesus walking on water. In each story, we are reminded that "Jesus is enough!"
In today's message we see Jesus demonstrate His authority in ways that expand the disciples hearts to trust Him more. The more that they trust Him, the more willing they are to follow Him. As we read we will find ourselves asking, "Do I trust Jesus enough to follow Him in my life?"
It's planting season! And where we find Jesus today, he's telling farming stories. Are you satisfied with how the Gospel is growing and changing you? Come along as we unpack the Parable of the Sower.
Whether you recognize it or not, God has been reaching out to you. You've probably had moments that can't be explained, circumstances that just line up, and/or "lucky" events that are inexplicable. Easter is the celebration of God coming near and showing himself to us through Jesus. The question is, "Do you see him?" And what's next?
For Mark, Jesus is Everything! And as he tells stories of Jesus, that theme beats over and over. Who do you say Jesus is?
In these 5 short stories, Mark wants us to see that Jesus is up to something. More than healings, miracles and amazing teaching -- Jesus came to deal with sin. He's changing the game. He's overthrowing religion and establishing his identity and mission -- as Savior of the world.
Have you ever had a "whatever it takes" moment? Jesus is confronted by 4 friends who were crazy enough to tear off a roof in order to get their paralyzed buddy to Messiah's feet. And Jesus' response is#unexpected when he reveals that he has come to earth to do "whatever it takes" to bring us forgiveness and new life!
Jesus begins his public ministry with a bang! He calls ordinary people to follow him -- and then shows what the life of a disciple will look like. We follow Jesus through a very long, very busy day -- and learn how he hears from his Father.
For over 2000 years, Jesus Christ has been disrupting the status quo. Mark records the life and teaching of the Messiah in vivid detail, revealing how Jesus raised up disciples who were then given the charge to change the world. Jesus and his message of hope are still disrupting lives today. Do you know his story? This is the beginning!
"Go, therefore, and make disciples." That's a command from Jesus. So it's kind of important. But what is a disciple? And how do you make one?
The word "disciple" is kind of confusing. We've come to identify "disciple" with a program, class or particular study. But the New Testament doesn't make a distinction between a Christian and a Disciple. To be a believer (Jesus-follower) is to be a disciple. THAT changes things.
Today we begin our series by defining what a disciple is. We look to scriptures to see how Jesus' disciples turned to Him as their lead, made Him their life, and bore the fruit of Jesus. How do we answer the question, "Am I A Disciple?"
The final "Dangerous" prayer is a posture of availability before God. Jonah and Moses were called by God and said "I'm not going" or "Send someone else". Isaiah teaches us to live available, "Here I am. Send me!"
Too often we pray safe prayers. Dangerous prayers are risky and life-stretching. Over the next 21 days we are going to explore some of the dangerous prayers that have been prayed by God's people for thousands of years. We trust God will meet you in a life-changing manner as you pray!
This is probably the MOST dangerous of the prayers we can pray! We spend much of our lives trying NOT to be broken or weak. But what if the life of Jesus is our model? What if Mark 14 illustrates how to live "Broken & poured out" for all of us?
What is God's will for my life?" Ever ask that question in the middle of a decision moment? God's will really isn't that mysterious! In Psalm 143, David teaches us to say, "Lord, teach me to do your will.

The world is big, the world is lost, how can Cascade Church impact this big, lost world?
Where do you want your life to grow in 2019? What if this were to be a breakthrough year for you? What is really worth pursuing?
Deep in an Old Testament genealogy is a guy who encountered the presence of God -- and nothing was ever the same for him (or his family). He discovered what was really "worth it."
When God came near that first Christmas -- he wasn't what we would expect. Rather than a triumphant King, he sent Messiah as a suffering servant. Because in God's economy, the way up is down!
In this final message in the #NoOffense series, Pastor Nate talks about the importance of living our online presence "thoughtfully, carefully & Biblically."
How do we handle being mistreated by those with leadership influence (parents, bosses, pastors)? They should know better, right? The story of David reveals that it is possible to "respond in the opposite spirit" even when a leader creates an opportunity for offense.
Do you have the right to be offended when you have genuinely been mistreated? Joseph's story is a profile in forgiveness and finding freedom from offense. He made a choice to become better rather than bitter.
Why is forgiveness so difficult? And how often do we have to forgive each other? Jesus tells a parable in answer to these questions -- and puts forgiveness in perspective.
What made the disciples cry out asking for more faith? It wasn't seeing the dead brought to life or miracles performed by the Master. It was Jesus' statement that offenses (skandalon) must be forgiven -- over and over and over again.
Our culture is captivated by offense, and captive to it. Broken relationships, frustration and resentment are all too common. We’ve somehow forgotten that careless words divide. Is unity and forgiveness even possible in an age of social media sound-bites? Jesus offers peace, forgiveness, strength AND compassion. We can live free and with #NoOffense.
Jesus tells a story that takes off in an unexpected direction in Luke 16. The dishonest Manager becomes a lesson in living out the Gospel with great intentionality. Is it possible to "take your little bit of time and little bit of wealth and leverage it for eternity?"
With the clock ticking on his time here on earth, Jesus provides a living parable. The cleansing of the temple and the curse of the fig tree are connected! Fruit is the expected outcome of a relationship with God.
4 kinds of soil representing 4 different responses to the "seed" of the Gospel. Jesus helps us understand why we struggle to see real transformation take place in our lives -- AND what we can do next.
Stories get through our defenses. They paint pictures in color and communicate timeless truths in memorable moments. Listen in as we tell the parables of Jesus.

Who is my neighbor? Jesus tells a story that challenges our categories and presses us to look for opportunities rather than loopholes as we see needs in our world.
Jesus spoke with a sense of urgency in this parable -- calling us to risk and faith for the sake of the Kingdom. Because the stakes are high, the time is short -- and we have the opportunity to make a difference now!
Prayer is one of those things we think we should do more of, but are often confused by the whole process. Jesus' disciples once asked him, "Lord, teach us to pray." He did -- and he included a parable to help illustrate the point.
Have you ever lost something really important to you? Jesus knows what it is to search for that which is lost. The LOST parables mirror the heart of God and remind us that "Grace welcomes you home!"
Jesus teaches from the Parable of the Hidden Treasure and the Pearl that the Kingdom of Heaven is worth our all.

Today Dan Bushy will be speaking on the Parable of the unforgiving servant in Mt 18:21-35. We will be looking at what the bible says about forgiving and being forgiven.
Stories get through our defenses. They paint pictures in color and communicate timeless truths in memorable moments. Listen in as we tell the parables of Jesus.
The Stories series begins with the parable of the rich farmer. Jesus has a way of turning ordinary situations into teachable moments. In Luke 12, he brings a surprising perspective on the topic of “why we have been given so much”.
The Exodus narrative is concluded in this message from Exodus 40. When we see as God sees -- we'll do as God says.
In Exodus 37-39 we see God's people doing "Just as the LORD commanded." This idea of hearing and doing just as the LORD commanded is directly tied to experiencing the presence of God for His people.
Exodus 35-36 tells the story of crazy generosity. From this text we're reminded that Christians are a generous people because we serve a generous God!
This Father's Day, we jump forward in the Exodus journey and address what matters most. What kind of legacy will you leave? What's most important?
Description: Exodus 33-34: If you could have everything you've always wanted, but NOT get the presence of God -- would you take it? That's the situation Israel faced in the desert. And then they made a choice.
Exodus is the story of God making a way for his people. It’s also the story of how God makes a way for us today. Come along on the journey as we discover Jesus in the Exodus!
Today we will look at Exodus 31. This chapter speaks of two key thoughts, work and rest! In six days God created the world then He rested. The sabbath was established as a sign for the Jews that the Lord is God. Week after week they observed the sabbath as holy to the Lord. It was a reminder to them of who God is. But what does that mean for us today? We will discover how Jesus is the perfect fulfillment of the Sabbath rest and that we are invited to enter the rest of God!
Exodus 27-30 describes how God's people were to approach a holy God. And once again, Jesus is the fulfillment of the "copy" that Exodus records. How has God called you to live as a priest in the world you live in?
To understand the tabernacle of Exodus 25-27 is to better understand Jesus. More than a list of construction docs, the tabernacle is God bringing his presence to the world!
Description: The Book of the Covenant is a list of over 50 additional laws that further the 10 Commands. It's usually fly-over territory when we read the Bible. But what is God up to in all these rules? And how does it all point to Jesus? Exodus 21-24.
Description: What are the 10 Commandments all about? What did they mean for the people of Israel during the Exodus and what do they mean for us today? Let's unpack law and grace!
Exodus 19 is a turning point in the narrative of God’s rescue. What does it mean to be in relationship with Almighty God? What matters most in how we invest our lives. Before the 10 commands are given, we are reminded that “meeting with God is what matters most.”
Exodus is the story of God making a way for his people. It’s also the story of how God makes a way for us today. Come along on the journey as we discover Jesus in the Exodus!
Control. We all want it -- but it seems to be an illusion. In Exodus 16 &17, God is teaching his people to trust daily in his provision. And, once again, the stories point to Jesus.
We all search for something to make life meaningful. What if the answer was right in front of us all along? What if Easter actually shows us the Way?
“Those who do not learn from history are destined to repeat it.” Exodus 15 starts with a song of worship in response to Israel’s deliverance. Then, we find the Hebrews entering a cycle that will repeat for 40 years in the wilderness. And from their story, we can learn from history — and avoid repeating their mistakes.
Exodus is the story of God making a way for his people. It’s also the story of how God makes a way for us today. Come along on the journey as we discover Jesus in the Exodus!

God is relentlessly answering the question of Pharaoh (and us), “Who is the Lord, that I should listen to his voice?” And God’s answer may be surprisingly good news!
What do you do when God speaks to you? Exodus 7 is the story of how 2 individuals respond when God's Word comes to them: Moses & Pharaoh. How they respond has everything to do with what happens next.
Moses is walking proof that “God does His best work in impossilbe situations.” In chapter 6, we find our unlikely hero hearing from God and stepping forward in faith, despite a broken past and a shaky faith.
Israel has begun to have hope for the first time in a long. But in chapter 5, hope is crushed. How do we survive disappointment?
When have you felt closest to God? In Exodus 3, God reveals himself as both above (transcendent) and here with us (immanent). He is the "I AM" and we get to proclaim, "I'm with Him!"
Exodus is the story of God. We see Him make a way for his people --- often in surprising fashion! Yet, there are moments when we wonder if God is going to come through for us. This message from Exodus 2 reminds us that God sees and God knows.
Exodus Is the story of God making a way for his people. It's also the story of how God makes a way for us today. Come along on the journey as we discover Jesus in the Exodus.

Today we will explain the understanding of Joy and how we can find it despite the circumstances around us. Our Savior came to earth 2000 years ago and His works have sent out an eternal shock wave of Joy. How do you find your life lost in His Joy?
Peace. Everybody wants it, few of us seems to have it. Messiah is promised to be the Prince of Peace and to bring us peace with God. Pastor Nate continues the Advent season from Isaiah 61 and Luke 4.
At the start of Advent season, we're reminded that the way of Jesus is radically counter-cultural! Isaiah predicted that Messiah would appear as a "Suffering Servant" and that the "way up is down."
The origin story of the Church ends in Acts 28. Or does it? Is it possible that you/I are living out Acts 29 as Jesus continues to change lives through his people? Nothing can stop the Gospel!
The Apostle Paul was the greatest church planter in history. And at the end of his 3rd planting trip, he says farewell to likely his favorite church. In Acts 20, we get a glimpse into the heart of a leader who is relentlessly focused on giving his life away for the sake of others. From Paul, we are encouraged to "live to give."
The early days of the church experienced exponential growth. The church in certain persecuted countries currently experience similar rates of growth. When we realize that we are "The Sent" we will see exponential growth in our country.
What does it take to become a "real" Christian? Over the years, each culture and generation has said, "Believe in Jesus." And then subltly added, "And follow the rules." In Acts 10-11, God shows Peter that Jesus died for everyone. Even those from different backgrounds than ours.
The Apostle Paul was a world-changer. Arguably, he was the greatest church planter to ever live. But he didn't start out the way we remember him. From his salvation story, we are reminded that God can and will use anyone! Because God doesn't call the prepared -- he prepares the called.
The hope of the world is Jesus Christ. And God has chosen to use his Church to carry the message of Jesus. Which is sort of crazy -- because the church is made up of people who are ordinary, broken and in process. What was God thinking? The New Testament book of Acts tells the story.
Before we can ever accomplish God's plan for the church, we must first engage in what it takes to actually be the church.
In light of current events (mass shootings, hurricanes and earthquakes) -- we're left asking big questions. Like, "what is the hope of the world?" Pastor Nate speaks from Acts 2, proclaiming "The hope of the world is Jesus Christ. Period."
Often overlooked, underestimated or misunderstood -- the role of the Holy Spirit is mission-critical. Pastor Nate describes the work of the Spirit from John 16 and Acts 2. Jesus followers and the church itself are absolutely dependent on the power of the Spirit!

Israel was without a king in the book of Judges. They were caught in a cycle of oppression, repentance, salvation, to selfishness... He was born into power, strength, purpose, and esteem. He seemed like the most likely Judge to bring about permanent freedom! We learn a valuable lesson in the failure of the most likely hero.
