Jesus evangelized the rich young ruler without ever directly mentioning how to be saved (by faith in Him). We might ask, 'How is that possible?' Jesus temporarily indulged the man's belief that he could earn salvation, and proceeded to show him his error by means of the Law. The man walked away with a lesser sense of his own piety and self-worth, thus bringing him that much closer to salvation. As we imitate Christ, let us remember to contextualize our evangelism efforts to meet the express need of the hearer.
