Tony and Chris share their recent interview with Francis Cardinal Arinze, one of the most influential Catholic figures of the recent age. Cardinal Arinze is from Nigeria, and was ordained a Bishop at the young age of 32, having served as a trusted advisor to Blessed Pope John Paul II & Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI. The show is built around a reflection of the Old Testament story of Eleazar and his family, found in 2 Maccabees 6:18-31. We are able to see from this story how important it is to be aware of our actions and how they may be perceived by others.
Tony and Chris talk about “Comforting the Disturbed, and Disturbing the Comforted.” This quote comes directly from Mother Teresa and was the response she gave to the question of her earthly purpose. Mother Teresa performed everyday actions with great love, and thus in comforting the disturbed, she was also able to disturb those comfortable with their lives. We would do well to follow Mother Teresa’s example in many ways, but especially by disturbing the comforted, starting with ourselves. This is a very important element to understand: We must all get out of our comfort zones in order to Evangelize effectively.

Becoming a pure vessel is what is needed to become more effective at evangelization. The idea that “you cannot give what you do not have” is very important, and if the goal of evangelization is to bring Christ to others we must learn how to receive Christ. To accomplish this we can strive to be more like Mary the most pure vessel who received Christ perfectly and gave Him to the world. Tony and Chris will discuss the importance of Mary as the Immaculate Conception and how she is the model of evangelization.
Tony and Chris discuss Pope Benedict's second encyclical Spe Salvi (In Hope We are Saved). The Holy Father in this letter called his flock to reflect upon the hope that we have as Christians because of Jesus our Lord. However, this hope must move beyond just a head knowledge or "informative" but it must show up in our actions thus becoming "performative". Therefore, if our hope in Christ is evident in our actions then it will be a light to the world to bring others to Christ. "It is never to late nor is it ever in vain to touch the heart of another" (SS 48).
Chris Roth sit down with Tony and Chris to discuss youth ministry in the Catholic Church. Chris has worked in youth and young adult ministry for many years in several different dioceses. We discuss many topics including: What makes a great youth program? How can we keep our young people active in their faith? How can we reach those teens that are not showing up to Church any longer?
