Andy Hughes is a law enforcement executive with thirty years of experience. He started his career as a dispatcher with the Houston County Sheriff’s Office. He later served as a deputy and narcotics investigator before continuing his career with the Dothan, AL, Police Department. Andy attained the rank of sergeant in 1994 and served there until he was elected as Sheriff of Houston County in 2006 and re-elected in 2010. In 2014, Andy was appointed as assistant director for homeland security for the State of Alabama. While serving in that position, he commanded the aviation unit, the explosives ordinance disposal team, and the special weapons and tactics team. Andy is now the Special Projects Manager / Law Enforcement Liaison for FirstGuard, LLC, which specializes in providing off duty law enforcement personnel for various security projects throughout the United States.
