Excerpt:
In my work as a personal trainer and nutritionist, the main goal I hear from my clients is to lose weight. When questioned about their desire to lose weight, the most common answer is “to be healthy”.
We all want to be the healthiest we possibly can be, we understand that weight loss is the answer. Having a high BMI has been linked with diseases such as heart attack, stroke, diabetes, cancer and more. However, it is a myth that having a high BMI causes these things.
In this episode, I am joined by Maggie Landes, MD who explains how BMI itself, is not the best indicator of health. In fact, dieting actually increase our risk and leads to worse health outcomes than weight alone.
Maggie explains her “un-dieted” approach to eating and how chasing health at EVERY size is possible. She also discusses body image and weight stigma with practical strategies to help you self-advocate.
