1. When I was 8 years old, I heard my first racial slur.  Not only did I hear it, I said it to someone else.  Now, as an adult I share with you a recent incident involving racial comments and how these 2 tales connect to each other.

This episode is a little different in that I share with you two personal stories, one from when I was 8 years old to a recent incident in adulthood.  Both involving racial comments.

When I was 8 years old, I heard my first racial slur.  Not only did I hear it, I said it to someone else.  At the time, I had no understanding of what I had done yet I was still guilty of behaving as a racist.  Even more so, I had no understanding of how that experience would impact me today as an adult.

As an adult person of colour, I continue to deal with racial comments and when I look back at my 8 year old self I have a lot to be grateful for.  I hope you enjoy these two tales.
