Bringing in the New Year! Taking it super easy with my lower back. It is improving, but not to the point I'd even go for a light jog. It's very tender still. Kept me up last night a little bit when I was sleeping. Trying to continue to do the movements that feel good, but not overdoing it. The extent of today for recovery was soaking in the bathtub doing an epson salt. Then taking 20-25 minutes to stretch out. Doing a light gentle movement. I call it the pigeon pose. It's like a runner's routine where you've got your knees at 90 degrees, and you're flipping over and working different angles. The other thing today that I enjoyed a lot was bringing the new year with some new food! I tried a recipe. I went through a course about plant-based eating and curious about how I can incorporate that into my approach for meeting nutriotional needs. Came across this recipe called tempeh brown rice buddha bowl. Looks good, but I'd never tried tempeh. It can always be a little interesting when you're baking something and you don't know what it will taste like at the end. Like I said in my podcast yesterday, I think the theme going into this year will be food. I'm using a tool called Cronometer to track and keep a daily log on my intake and what I eat. I'm going to use that to highlight some of the good things I'm discovering through experimenting a little. I'll check in tomorrow. Actually check in on Monday. Tomorrow is Saturday. Guessing by Monday will be more of the same. Not going to be in the gym. Just doing the best I can with what I have right now and that's a lot of patience.
