Feeling pretty good. Able to get in the pool tonight for 15 minutes. Started with a nice, easy warmup of treading water. Then went right into a breaststroke. Just did 2-3 laps and that was it. Interesting thing was, because I went at night, they have swimming lessons in one pool and in another pool have a high dive. I got to see two of these guys jumping off the high dive. Then a coach instructing them on their form as they're going off. Super interesting to me because I've never even thought of jumping off a diving board. I'm not a swimmer or trained in that at all. Seeing how their approach really affected their get off and ability to go straight up and go straight down into the water was kind of neat. Thing that I took away, just briefly watching it, as the coach really pointed out...as you're getting ready for the jump that's the thing everyone pays attention to. It's actually the lead in steps that determine how well you're going to be positioned. He was really emphasizing when you're on a single leg and you're putting that load on that single leg, you have to stay structurally intact from your head to your toes and your core is what keeps you together. If your leg breaks at all, or you break at the hip, and you lose that angle or lose that stability, on a diving board especially you kind of veer off and drift on your jump. Translating that to jumping on land. You can definitely feel when you get a good get off vs. a one footed jump where it feels flat. So maybe apply that tomorrow and pay more attention to how it feels leading into a jump and on the landing. Looking forward to a good nights rest and get after it tomorrow.
