Paul McDermott has been described as a cultural historian documenting Cork's musical heritage. If you’re a regular listener to UCC98.3FM you will have heard his execellent documentaries on Microdisney, Stump, Andrew Weatherall, and Finbar Donnelly from Five Go Down To The Sea & Nun Attax.

More recent offerings such as his documentary on the Sultans of Ping, which was released as the band celebrated 30 years of Casual Sex In The Cineplex, was aired on RTE’s 2XM and his feature on the music of Sliabh Luachra, which aired on RTE’s Lyric FM, was described by the Irish Times as 'an evocative reminder of the magical role music can play in our lives’.

When not documenting Cork's musical heritage, he teaches radio production, journalism studies and media analysis in Rathmines College, he broadcasts Songs To Learn & Sing on Dublin City FM, and he also produces the NO.1 podcast, To Here Knows When - Great Irish Albums Revisited.
