From before we draw breath into eternity God reaches out to us in love. And that love that reaches out to us does not depend on our gender, denomination, religion, sexual orientation, income level, political affiliation or anything else. It is the ultimate “given”–the ground of all life, of all being. And as participants in God’s creation, we are called to do, to reflect that same love, to respect the dignity of all human beings--no exceptions. And we don’t need to have the right beliefs or to be members of any particular group to do that. Discipleship is not about membership in a club at all—it is about doing God’s compassion, justice and mercy.
