Let’s talk about one of my favorite topics: How Acupuncture Works for Fertility

This mysterious art, though now quite mainstream, is an amazing asset to women and couples on the fertility highway. Though its been around for millenia (3000+ years) and has been clinically proven to be effective for a variety of conditions, we are still lacking in the gold standard double blind placebo trials to support its use. One of the main reasons why conducting research on acupuncture is hard is because treatments are extremely customized to the person. This makes it difficult to sit down and study it because every treatment is so unique to the person coming in and generally, studies are done on a standardized protocol. Thats what makes it so damn special and effective. Also, not for nothing, there’s not a lot of money going towards acupuncture research… Big pharma has a lot more backing to fund research on drugs. Luckily acupuncture for fertility has evidence mounting in its favor.

So, how does it work exactly? Studies have shown that acupuncture can induce reactions that activate nerve endocrine and immune signaling pathways by inserting needles into the skin. Acupuncture can assist in reproductive health with improving ovarian function, follicle countAMh, hormone balance, uterus receptivity and blood flow. It’s also amazing for stress, bloat, or if you’re feeling emotionally ravaged from the fertility process.
