Scrapple is a dish made out of the leftovers scraps in the meat production process. It is traditionally made from the meat of pigs, chickens, and cows. The dish was brought to the U.S. by the Germans in medieval Europe. The Pennsylvania Dutch called the dish panhaus, which translated to ‘pan rabbit’.  Scrapple is usually thought of as a mid-Atlantic local food, served as an ethnic food of the Pennsylvania Dutch and Amish.

You may or may not have had scrapple, but have you ever wondered about its history?
