Unstuck Your Life is a podcast for people who just feel stuck. Whether it's stuck in life, in your career or in the balancing act of it all, you'll learn from someone who knows what it's like to be pulled in every direction. Pamela Hughes is a Certified Life Coach and former talk show host who knows what you're going through because she lived it; a mom with a demanding career, a husband with an equally demanding career and all the stress of life to go with it. She is now sharing the tools and concepts she used to wiggle loose so you can create the life you've always wanted for yourself.
After a nine-month break, I'm back! Life has been full of changes, including my dad's cancer journey. During that time, I chose to step away from some things to spend time with my family. While it's been a difficult path, there's been tremendous growth and lessons learned. Sometimes life forces us to transform in unexpected ways.
In this episode, we'll talk about taking those next steps when you feel lost or overwhelmed. You'll learn how to break free from feeling stuck and gain strategies to identify immediate actions, even when the grand plan is unclear. We'll discuss why consistency, not intensity, is the key to sustainable progress.
Let's connect! Share how you've navigated life's transformations and what's the next step on your journey?

About the host:
Hi, friend! My name is Pamela Hughes and I’m a former talk show host turned life coach. After 20 years in the news business, I walked away from what people thought I should do and I did what I wanted to do … coach people who are stuck like I was and help them find relief, awareness and control within themselves.
This was no easy task and I’m not here telling you it was. I had to take full responsibility for where my life was and then decide where I wanted it to go. It was time to stop complaining about my situation and do something about it. I had to stop looking for others to validate me and start having my own back. This required looking inside myself for the answers instead of looking outside myself.
I told you it wasn’t easy … but I wouldn’t change one thing about my journey because it led me right here to you reading about it, maybe identifying with aspects of it and hopefully being inspired to get UNSTUCK.

Hey there, folks! Today on "Unstuck Your Life with Pamela Hughes," we're talking about the difference between self-confidence and confidence. Now, I know what you're thinking, "aren't they the same thing?" Nope, not at all! Pamela explains that confidence comes from experience, like being a pro at putting on your pants or hitting a 90mph fastball. But self-confidence, on the other hand, is all about how you feel about yourself, your worth, and your value as a person.
So, how do you build up that self-confidence muscle? Well, Pamela's got some great tips, like self-reflection, journaling, and replacing those pesky negative thoughts with positive ones. Remember, building self-confidence takes time and effort, but it's so worth it for personal growth and success. So go ahead, believe in yourself, upgrade that thinking, and don't be too hard on yourself if you have a bad day.

I want to celebrate a huge milestone with you - Episode #100! I can’t believe we’ve made it this far and I want to take a moment to thank you for being a part of this amazing journey.
In today’s episode, I’m going to share one of my secrets to staying focused, and it’s simple, yet powerful.
Seven years ago, I started wearing a bracelet on my wrist with a metal circle that had one word on it - MY WORD. This word was meant to remind me of what I was focusing on, who I was becoming, and to inspire, ground and push me forward.
I’ve gone through different seasons in my life and my word has changed several times.
In today’s episode, I want to inspire you to choose your own word and help you discover what that word may be.
Think about your season, what you’re focusing on, and what resonates with you. Your word could be anything that inspires and motivates you, and it could change as you go through different seasons in life.
I'll also be sharing some of my favorite words and the stories behind them, hoping to inspire you to choose your own word.
Thank you again for your support and I can’t wait for you to join me for Episode #100 and to discover you're own WORD!

You find what you're looking for in life.
If you're looking for all the things that are going wrong, holding you back and what you can't do, YOU'RE GOING TO FIND IT!
On the flip side, if you start challenging yourself to start looking for all the things that are going well, the progress you've made and the small steps you've taken forward, YOU'LL FIND THEM TOO!
Life is full of both fulfilling and stressful moments. As humans we experience both joy and pain. We have both positive moments and negative ones. It's the duality of life. But which experiences are you choosing to focus on more? Not sure? Answer this, if ten people give you a complement and one person gives you a criticism, what do you pay more attention to most the many complements or the one criticism?
In this episode, I'll explain the biological wiring that guarantees you find what you're looking for and ways to rewire your brain so you find more of what you say you want.
I'll do this with the help of one of my favorite self help books, The Gap and the Gain by Dan Sullivan.

Everyday you have two types of conversations. The conversations you have with other people and the conversations you have with yourself. Take a guess which one is more important.
Here's a hint ... where ever you go, there you are.
While you can ignore or avoid other people, you can never escape yourself. That's why you need to pay attention to the conversations you're quietly having in your head.
The truth is that voice in your head can either build you up or tear you down. If the banter or chatter you regularly have with yourself is negative, critical or judgemental then chances are you're feeling stuck and frustrated.
That's why we're tackling negative self talk in the 7th episode of the 'Unstuck Yourself Series' In this podcast I'll share my own battle with the bully in my brain and how to retrain your brain to work for you instead of against you. This is the stuff I wish I would have learned in my teens but I'm so thankful to be sharing it with you now!

What is self discipline and how do you get more of it? Those are the questions we're tackling this week in 5th episode in the 'Unstuck Yourself' series.
It really comes down to whether your playing the short game or the long game.
Are you going to make decisions that feel good right now or feel really good later? Are you willing to sacrifice what you want today for what you really want in the future? If you sacrifice in the short term, you can have long term reward. If want the reward now, you could be sacrificing that long term reward.
I'll break it all down for you and what to do about it in this episode.

This is the 5th podcast in the ‘Unstuck Yourself' series and in it I’m sharing the ‘2 Keys to Achieving Any Goal.’
While these keys are simple, I warn you they are not easy.
Having a life you love is going to require a certain level of discomfort and dedication on your part. Don’t let that scare you. I’m just being honest.
If going after what you want and making it happen were easy then everyone would be doing it.
You’re here because you believe achieving your goals is possible and in this podcast I’m going to share with you what it takes.

This is the 4th episode in the 'Unstuck Yourself' series. Last week you set a goal for yourself. Something that was specific, measurable and had a deadline. This week, you're going to create the road map for accomplishing that goal because setting a goal is only half the job. The other half is taking action.
You know what you want but how do you get it?
In this episode you'll learn the '4 steps To Taking Action.' These steps will clearly lay out your own personal plan for achieving your goal.
Everyones plan is going to be different because we are all different, with different goals, different skill sets, and different priorities.
The framework you'll learn in this podcast will give you the tools you need to create your own individual path forward towards your specific goal. This is not a one size fits all framework. You will use this framework to discover what you need to do to accomplish your goal and then how to schedule it so it actually gets done.
Let's do this!!!!!

The number one reason people get stuck is because they stop growing. They stop learning. They stop working towards something new.
In this podcast I'm inviting you to stop living in the 'miserable maybe' and make a powerful decision. Decide where you want to go by deciding what goal you want to set for yourself.
In the third episode of the UNSTUCK YOURSELF SERIES I'll share with you the importance of setting a goal and the elements of an effective goal.
It's really hard to get where you're going if you don't know where that is. Goals give you direction and focus.
Maxwell Maltz once said, 'We find no real satisfaction or happiness in life without obstacles to conquer and goals to achieve.'
If you want to wiggle loose, experience satisfaction and find some happiness again, start by listening to this podcast and setting a goal.

One of the biggest reasons you get stuck is because of your thinking. That’s not an attack, it’s good news.
It’s good news because that means you can get unstuck all by yourself. It doesn’t require anyone in your life to change, you don’t have to massively alter your life to get relief and simply becoming aware of what’s going on between your two ears can be all it takes to wiggle loose.
This is the second podcast in the 'Unstuck Yourself Series' and in it I will show you how your mind is creating your experience in life. Once you learn this, you can’t ignore it. It allows you to take ownership of your feelings and empowers you to decide what story you’re going to tell yourself about everything.
There are no worksheets this week. All I want you to do is create awareness around your thinking. You can do this by simply writing down what you're feeling and getting curious as to why? What are the facts? What are the thoughts swimming around your head about those facts?
Once you can see the story you're telling yourself, you then get to decide what you want to do with that story. Do you want to keep it, alter it or completely change it?

If you feel stuck, want to wiggle loose but you don’t know where to start … GOOD NEWS!!!!!
This is the first episode in my UNSTUCK YOURSELF series! Over the next several weeks I will be laying out the blueprint to UNSTUCK YOURSELF.
First, I want you to know you’re not alone and nothing is ‘wrong’ with you. Feeling stuck is a universal experience most people have at some point in their life.
Being stuck is one thing. Staying stuck in another. Oftentimes you don’t have control over what happened in your life that wedged you between a rock and a hard place. What happened, happened. It’s now up to you to decide what happens next.
I’m kicking off this series by inviting you to clearly define what you want. I know that’s a broad question but give yourself permission to just explore what comes up for you when you ask it.
Allow yourself to want something just because you want it. You don’t have to explain why you want it, how it would benefit you or your family or the reasons behind wanting it.
To some of you that sounds amazing and exciting, to others it sounds irresponsible and to some it sounds selfish. Just notice what that little voice in your head said when I invited you to allow yourself to want something just because you want it.
One of the biggest reasons people get stuck is because they stop growing. They do the same thing over and over, day after day and call that a life.
Try something different. Get curious about the little voice and its reaction to wanting what you want. I’m going to help you do that in this podcast because you have to be clear on the results you want to create in your life if you’re going to get unstuck and create them.
You’re going to get a few simple questions to ask yourself to help uncover what you want. If you already know what you want, GREAT, I’ve got a few questions for you as well.
AND … if you want to get to know yourself better so you can Unstuck Yourself faster, email the word ‘WANTS’ to
Unstuckyourselfpodcast@gmail.com
And I will send you my ‘Deep Dive’ bonus worksheets so you can take this work and go deeper!!!!
Okay, enough already! Go listen to this podcast and don’t forget click the + and ‘Follow’ this show so you don’t miss the next episodes in this UNSTUCK YOURSELF series.

There's a time to grind it out and push forward and there's a time to slow down and take a break. It can be tough to figure out which one you should do. My recommendation is to try one method, see if it works and go from there.
For most of my life I've adopted the 'grind it out, push forward' method and it has served me well ... until it didn't.
Recently I've taken a break from this very podcast because grinding it out and pushing forward when what I really needed was rest and reflection wasn't working for me. So I took a break. I pushed paused on a few things so I could reprioritize where my time, attention and effort was going and I gave myself the space I needed to rest and reflect. This podcast is about what I learned during that time.
We are conditioned to just put our heads down and make stuff happen and there is definitely a time and place for that mindset. But have you ever slowed down enough to reevaluate why you're doing that and whether or not it's truly serving you right now?
Don't know how to do that? I'm going to help you in this episode because sometimes you need to slow down now to go faster later.

You’ve heard the saying, you are responsible for your own happiness. Hell, I’ve said it on this very podcast because it’s true.
You are responsible for your own happiness. But today we’re kicking it up a notch … You’re not just responsible for your own happiness. You my friend are responsible for everything in your life.
And the moment you realize this, embrace it and run with it is the moment your life changes.
If you want to get unstuck, radical responsibility isn’t just going to wiggle you loose, it’s going to slingshot your life forward in ways you can’t imagine.

I don't like the phrase, 'Go big or go home.' I understand why people use it but I think focuses on the wrong thing. You can't 'go big' ALL the time. It's impossible. In fact, you can't 'go big' until you've done small ... A LOT!
It's the commitment and the consistency of taking the small steps that eventually set you up to 'go big.' Without the small steps there are no big results.
You can try to go from zero-to-100 right out of the gate but chances are you can't sustain that speed very long because you haven't done the work to earn it. For most people it's too much too fast and it just leads to frustration, burn out and the false belief that others can do it but you can't.
I'm a big believer in setting big goals but breaking them down into small steps and celebrating every inch forward along the way. When you do that, you don't quit before you even start, you create momentum and experience success early.
This works because SUCCESS BREEDS SUCCESS.
If you've struggled to set goals and get started or if you're a pro at setting them but fizzle out fast, this is the podcast for you.

Have you ever said, or had someone say to you, "It could be worse, you could be _____." Or maybe you've thought, "well at least I'm not ____" or, "It's better than being ____."
These are all examples of comparative suffering. This is when we look at someones pain or struggle and minimize it by comparing it to the difficult time someone else is having.
When I was a new mom, I really struggled balancing my new role at home with my professional role at the radio station. I once had someone say, 'It could be worse, you could have 5 kids at home to parent and not just one.' Yeah, I'm sure parenting 5 kids is really hard but that doesn't mean my struggle of parenting one wasn't hard for me. I believe that person was just trying to provide perspective but what they did was minimize what I was going through.
We do this to ourselves as well. We try to make sense of our own pain by comparing it to other people's pain.
"I shouldn't complain about how much I'm working, at least I have a job."
The upside to this is it can provide perspective. The downside is it minimizing your own feelings. Just because you have perspective doesn't mean your feelings magically go away. If you don't pay attention to those feelings and allow them to be there, they will fester and show up at inopportune times.
If you've ever judged how your feeling because it's not as bad as what someone else is experiencing, you need to listen to this episode.

Life is both good and bad. It is both positive and negative. No matter how old you are, how much money you have in the bank or where you live, you will experience both ups and downs, as well as times of stress and times of peace.
That's because life is 50/50. Fifty-percent of the time it's good and 50% of the time it's bad. It's always 50/50. It's 50/50 when you're 20years old. It's 50/50 when you're 45 years old. It's 50/50 if you have $2,000 in the bank. It's 50/50 if you have $200,000 in the bank. It's 50/50 if you live Nashville. It's 50/50 if you live in Maui. It may be a different set of victories and struggles but it will always be 50/50.
When you begin to realize this it can create a sense of relief. It always you to be present and fully experiencing life as it is right now.
Chance are you've been conditioned to believe 'there' is better than 'here,' so it's common to be constantly pushing, grinding and wishing for something different because you think it will all be better when you get 'there,' wherever 'there' is. I'm here to tell you life is 50/50 here and it will be 50/50 when you get there.
So how can you slow down and become more present today? Click listen and find out.

I have to admit, I've never considered the difference between 'thoughts' and 'thinking' until I read, 'Don't Believe Everything You Think' by Joseph Nguyen.
His book is a simple read the delivers a fresh, powerful perspective on 'why your thinking is the beginning and end of suffering.'
In this episode, I use Nguyen's book to explain the difference between thoughts and thinking, as well as how I've used this distinction to calm my own worrying, anxiety and stress.
If you've ever felt stuck in the spiral of a negative thought loop, check out this episode for examples of how to get out of it.

Separating the facts from your story is one of the simplest, most powerful tools I teach. But just because it's simple doesn't mean it's easy. In this podcast I'll explain why this concept is so powerful, how to figure out what's a fact and what's a story (believe it or not this can be tricky) and what to do with that valuable information.
By separating the facts from the story you'll get clarity and perspective that may have eluded you up until this point. If you tend to overthink issues, worry about stuff and get overwhelmed easily ... this is the episode for you.

Byron Katie said it best, "When you argue with reality you lose but only 100% of the time." It's true! When you argue with what's actually happening, because you think something else should be happening, it doesn't change anything. All it does is make you feel like crap. You create more suffering for yourself.
Just because you think something 'shouldn't' be happening doesn't change the fact it IS happening. Or vice versa, just because you think something 'should' be happening doesn't change the fact that it isn't happening.
This week I share my own struggle with reality. I get personal and open up about some of the ways I've been arguing with reality and what it's caused me. I know a lot of you are going through some stuff right now and I hope that by sharing what's happening in my world, you're able to learn from my experience and find a little more peace in your own world.

My life has been a bit hectic and chaotic lately. The routine and structure I value has been disrupted, leaving me a bit 'itchy.' I gave myself permission NOT to do a podcast this week but I decided to crack the mic and share with you what I've learned through this rough patch.
You hear me say, 'there's value in vulnerability.' I'm being vulnerable with the hope you get value out of it. And if you don't, that's okay too.

Being a parent is one of the most challenge and rewarding things you'll ever do.
Being the parent of an infant or toddler is no easy task with all those sleepless nights and temper tantrums. Parenting teenagers on the other hand, is a whole different ballgame. It's tough finding that balance between telling your kids what to do and letting them figure it out on their own.
That's why I've invited Kristen Goodman on the podcast this week. She helps parents communicate with their teens without yelling and power struggles.
If you feel like your teen doesn't listen to you and you find yourself constantly yelling, worrying and frustrated over their choices, then this is the episode for you.
Kristen walks you through how to stay calm instead of losing your cool, what to say to your teens to get them to start talking to you and how to feel more confident and in control of your life so you can stop managing everyone else's emotions and expectations.

How often do you think about what you put in your mouth? Do you ever think about what you eat and how it impacts your body?
Most of us do. If you’re anything like me you probably think about eating more fruits and veggies and eating less sugar and junk. I know when I do my body feels better.
Have you ever thought about what you put into your brain? The impact news, social media, and tv has on your mind?
Most of us don’t. If you’re anything like me, the first thing you grab in the morning is your phone. I know when I do I start my day off a bit stressed.
The type of media you consume, and how much you consume is going to have a dramatic effect on your mood, your stress level and your overall sense of well being.
You’ve heard of the ‘Food Pyramid.’ In this podcast I introduce the ‘Media Pyramid.’ It’s the same concept but instead of veggies, protein and carbs, it’s books, news and social media.
This comparison or analogy really helps me and I want to share it with you because it takes this abstract idea of media consumption and makes it more concrete so you feel empowered to make healthier choices.

What's your word worth? When you say you're going to do something, do you actually do it?
Most of us believe we follow through on our word and most of the time we probably do.
But I don't think we're as good at it as we think.
AND I don't believe we truly know what going back on our word is costing us.
Sure, life happens and sometimes we need to drop back ten and punt, but that is the exception and not the norm.
I'm talking about the times you just change your mind and then break a commitment.
Make no mistake, you're ALLOWED to change your mind. In fact, I encourage it. BUT ... when you do, there is an important step you need to take in order to live with integrity for yourself and others.
In this episode I'll take a look at the different ways we go back on our word, the reasons we do it and a simple way to turn it all around.

Are you miserable in your marriage but not enough to get a divorce? Do you feel more like roommates than lovers? Do you ever wonder if you made a mistake marrying your spouse? Do you feel like your happiness is contingent upon everyone else in the house being happy? Do you put your needs on the back burner to ‘keep the peace?’
Those are some pretty heavy (but relatable) questions.
If you answered ‘yes’ to any of them then this is the episode for you. I’m sitting down and digging into all of that with Certified Advanced Relationship and Marriage Coach, Crystal Hansen.
While it’s common to feel lost in the roles of spouse, parent, provider, or household manager and feel as though your life isn’t your own, it also doesn’t have to continue that way.
Crystal talks about the importance of vulnerability in creating connections, why it only takes one person to ‘fix’ a marriage and why a ‘polite’ marriage isn’t necessarily a good one.
If you’re wanting more connection, less stress and a way to shift your perspective on your marriage than listen to this episode.

If you’ve ever struggled to lose weight, you may be missing a critical piece of the puzzle.
While it’s important to be aware of what you put in your mouth and how much you move your body, it's just as important to be aware of what’s going on between your two ears.
Managing your mind is the missing piece.
There are countless resources on the internet and books that will tell you what to eat, what not to eat, how much to eat, what exercises to do, what exercises to avoid and yet most of us struggle to lose the weight and keep it off.
You know what to do, but you struggle to do it. Why? Because you're human!
My guest this week, Kristine Rucker, is a Certified Life and Weight Coach who specializes in getting people off the dieting merry-go-round. She helps her clients lose weight by focusing on the thought patterns that keep them stuck and then developing simple strategies to move forward.
She shares some of those simple strategies in this podcast. These are things you can start doing today to have a big impact on tomorrow.
If your weight loss journey seems less of a journey and more of a merry-go-round, this episode is for you.

Saying ‘no’ to mediocre opportunities is easy. Saying ‘no’ to good opportunities is hard.
In order to have a great life you’re going to have to say ‘no’ to a lot of good things, which isn’t easy.
That’s what I’m talking about this week with Elana McKernan, a Master Certified Coach who, until recently, was the Chief Operating Officer for one of the biggest names in life coaching.
Elana walked away from a position so many people wanted so she could pursue what she truly wanted. Her story resonated with me because that’s exactly what I did in broadcasting. I walked away from a career I spent 17 years building to go after what I wanted.
If you’ve ever wanted more but didn’t know how to get it and therefore settled for what you have … this episode is for you.
This is an open and honest conversation from two women who were afraid to make a big move but did it anyway. We don’t sugar coat things or tell you it’s easy. What you will get out of this is a framework to challenge your own thoughts, the importance of developing a strong relationship with yourself and an example of what’s possible.

Most of us have been brought up with 'all-or-nothing' thinking and don't even realize how much it's costing us.
Either you succeed or you fail.
If I'm right, then you're wrong.
You're either with me or you're against me.
If I get everything done on my to-do list I'll feel productive, if I don't I won't.
These are all examples of 'all-or-nothing' thinking and I'm sure you can think of a lot more. They're absolutes and they pretty much paint you in to a corner. They leave no wiggle room for anything else and create a lot of judgment of yourself and of others.
This podcast aims to explain why we think that way and shares three simple ways you can begin to shift that pattern of thinking.
Sure, sometimes 'either/or' thinking will get you where you want to go. But I'd argue, 'both/and' thinking opens you up to so many more possibilities.

Everyday you have two types of conversations. The conversations you have with other people and the conversations you have with yourself. If you just thought, what conversation with myself, THAT conversation!
How you talk to yourself is just as, if not more, important than the way you talk to other people. WHY? Because wherever you go, there you are. There's no escaping you. You want to be around someone who builds and lifts you up not someone who judges and tears you down. Yet that's how we treat ourselves most of the time... until today!
In this podcast I'm going to show you how to change the conversations you have with yourself. The first step is becoming aware of what it is you're telling yourself. By being honest about what you think of yourself you can then do something about it. Which is step number two ... deciding what you want to think about you. YES, you get to DECIDE what to think! You're allowed to do that and I will help you with that right now.

This required looking inside myself for the answers instead of looking outside of me.
I told you it wasn’t easy … but I wouldn’t change one thing about my journey because it led me right here to you reading about it, maybe identifying with aspects of it and hopefully being inspired to get UNSTUCK.
I have a love/hate relationship with discomfort. I hate it because it’s uncomfortable but I love it because it means I’m growing. Maybe ‘love’ is too strong of a word but I do appreciate discomfort.
My mentor, Brooke Castillo says discomfort is the currency of your dreams. You have to pay the price of being uncomfortable in order to get what you want. When you start to see discomfort as an acknowledgement you’re taking a bit of a risk, as an indication that you’re growing and realize it shows up when you’re stepping outside of your comfort zone, your relationship with it will change. Your perspective of discomfort will shift from something that is ‘bad’ to something that is ‘good.’
Think about it … if you were ‘willing’ to be uncomfortable, what would change? What could you accomplish if being uncomfortable didn’t mean something was wrong, it meant you were actually doing it right?
That's what I'm talking about in this episode, The Upside of Being Uncomfortable. After listening to it you'll never look at discomfort the same way again. 😉

Bad things happen to good people and problems are a part of life. It stinks but it’s true. In this podcast I’m going to help you put your problems into perspective. I’m not going to minimize what you’re going through or compare your struggle to someone else’s. There’s enough of that going on and it’s not helpful AT ALL!
What I’m going to do is help you take a few steps back from the problem so you can start to get some clarity on it. When you get clarity on the problem you start to see a solution. That’s when you realize you can figure this out.
In this episode, I walk you through an exercise that will allow you to see how much you’ve overcome in your past and how much you still have to experience in your future. By stepping back and zooming out on your life, you’ll start to see the reality of it versus the emotionally charged story of it… and that’s when you’re able to put your problems into perspective.

You are not your thoughts, you are what you do. And there’s a BIG difference between those two things.
Sure, your thoughts are important because they create your feelings but you’ve got to get out of your head and into your life if you want anything to change.
The most successful people in life experience stress, fear, and confusion and they still take action. They have fear and they do it anyway. They don’t let the emotion stop them. They don’t allow what’s happening in their head to prevent them from creating what they want in their life. They feel the fear and do it anyway.
If you want to change your life you have to start doing stuff … and stop just thinking about doing stuff.
In this podcast I’ll share some of my own personal stories of realizing, 'I am not my thoughts.' I’ll also discuss the importance of deciding what you want, feeling all the feelings that come along with it and taking the next step to achieve it.

ᴜɴᴄᴇʀᴛᴀɪɴᴛʏ ɪꜱ ᴜɴᴄᴏᴍꜰᴏʀᴛᴀʙʟᴇ. Not knowing what’s going to happen or how something is going to play out can be both frustrating and scary.
The truth is you never really know exactly what is going to happen in any situation because certainty doesn’t exist.
In this episode I’ll talk about how we’re addicted to predictability and the stress that creates.
How certainty leads to complacency and exploring the idea that everything you want is on the other side of uncertainty. .

You're winning at the life you currently have. ALWAYS!
Not crazy about how life is going right now, that's okay, you're still winning at it. In this episode I'm expanding on an idea from author, Gary John Bishop, that we are 'wired to win.'
So what are you winning at? What are you winning at proving is true over and over and over again … even if it doesn’t feel good? What is it that you are gathering a ton of evidence for, and winning at being 'right' about, even though it might feel better to be wrong?
These are the stories we tell ourselves and they shape how we experience life. While these stories may feel true they are also optional.
In this podcast you'll learn how to uncover the beliefs and stories you're winning at and how to change them (if you want to.)

You know what you think of everyone else in your life but when was the last time you took at look at what you thought of yourself? Cut away all the surface BS and really drilled down on what you think of you.
The most important relationship you're ever going to have is the relationship you have with yourself, yet so many of us neglect that relationship. It's time to get clear on the story you tell yourself about yourself.
In this podcast I'll help you uncover that story, how it effects that relationship and impacts every facet of your life. I also invite you explore who you want to be in the future and start being that person RIGHT NOW! Don't wait!
You get to think whatever you want to about you! YOU'RE ALLOWED TO DO THAT! So if your thoughts are choice, why not think the best thoughts possible. Go for it and see what happens!

You clean up your kitchen, your car and your desk but when was the last time your cleaned up your thinking? Your brain gets just as cluttered as your closet but most of us don't take the time to tidy it up.
When I clean my closet I take a look at what I like, what I need and what I want to keep. I get rid of the stuff that is no longer my style, no longer fits or doesn't make me feel good. In this episode I'll explain how cleaning up your thinking is just as easy as cleaning your closet.

For nearly two decades of her life, Pamela Hughes had a microphone in front of her face. After graduating from Arizona State University with a degree in broadcast journalism, she started her news career with a brief stint in western Wisconsin before making her way back to the Grand Canyon State. In Phoenix, Pamela quickly climbed the newsroom ladder and started teaching the next generation of journalists at ASU. She knows what it’s like to chase the big story as a journalist, inform an audience as an anchor, and oversee an entire operation as a news director. She spent the final six years of her news career as the only female talk show host in Phoenix and just one of a few women who held that prestigious position in the country.
While Pamela loved connecting with her audience and bringing them the big stories of the day, the grind and negativity of the news cycle took its toll on her mentally and emotionally. In an effort to help navigate the growing emotional demands of her high profile career, her desire to be an exceptional mom and a great wife, Pamela hired a Life Coach. That one decision completely changed her life.
Pamela’s coach helped her discover the hidden power of thoughts. In Life Coaching, she learned to manage her mind and was amazed at how all areas of her life went from surviving to thriving. With this new knowledge, Pamela decided to walk away from a career she spent nearly 20 years building to become a Life Coach.
Now, instead of reporting the news of the day, she coaches professional women who feel stuck. Women who appear to have everything….a successful career, a great family and who enjoy “the good life” yet still feel unfulfilled. Women who pretend to be confident and put together on the outside but have a lot of self-doubt and uncertainty on the inside.
Pamela’s proven life coaching program helps women gain more confidence, learn to manage their mind and emotions while reaching their goals and dreams so that they can create a life they love.
Chances are you've heard of 'processing an emotion' but maybe you have no idea how to do it. UNTIL TODAY.
Uncomfortable/negative emotions are part of life but if you don't deal with them (process them) they're going to stick around. Most of us have never been taught the importance of feeling our feelings or how to actually do it.
In this podcast you're going to learn
You can't calm the storm. You can only calm yourself and wait for the storm to pass.

Have you ever wanted someone to do something for you and were disappointed because they didn't? Have you ever wanted someone to say something or respond to you in a specific way and got upset when they didn't? If so, you may have a script for that person.
In this podcast I'll clearly define what is a script, the problems with them, some of the common scripts we write and how to flip the script and drop it.

We're all adults but so often we look for permission to do the things we want and to be the person we want to be. It's time for you to clarify what you stand for and what's important in your life. When you do that, you create the freedom to show up as yourself and an understanding of why you react the way you do.
There is so much power that rests in defining your values and priorities. When you know what you stand for and what's important to you, it makes it easier to say 'yes' to what you want and 'no' to what you don't.
This podcast will help you discover how your lives would be different if you aligned it with your values and priorities.

Hiking a mountain is a great metaphor for achieving a goal or overcoming an obstacle in life. They all take a little planning. It's important to pace yourself. You get where you want to go by putting one foot in front of the other.
Whether you're hiking, going after a goal or overcoming an obstacle there will be easy breezy moments where you're barely breaking a sweat and tough terrain that threatens to knock you off your feet.
I recently went on a hike here in Phoenix. This podcast tells the story of what I learned on that hike.
1️⃣ Pick the right trail for your current skill set.
2️⃣ Be consistent.
3️⃣ Don't forget to look up.
4️⃣ When you're tired, rest don't quit.
5️⃣ Enjoy the view from the top.
Bonus realization: Hiking is more fun with a friend and easier if that friend has already hiked that trail.
You don't have to enjoy hiking to get value out of this episode. If you're wrestling with a problem or struggling to achieve a goal, this podcast will bring a fresh perspective to whatever you're dealing with.

Have you ever felt like you had to wear a mask and disguise how you’re truly feeling because you felt like crap? You don’t want to ‘make other people feel bad’ so you pretend everything is fine when it’s not. I have 🙋♀️ and it’s exhausting.
If no one has ever told you this before then I will … It’s okay not to be okay! Yup, you’re allowed to be bummed, frustrated, irritated, scared, angry, annoyed, disappointed … you name it, it’s okay you’re experiencing it AND you don’t have to act like you’re not. In fact, what if telling the truth about how you felt was the fastest way to feel better?
I wanted to do a podcast on this topic because I believe it’s an important one. It seems like there is a lot of forced positivity in the world right now and that can actually have a negative impact on someone who is not okay. I have both experienced forced positivity and, if I’m being honest, I’ve actually done it to others.
So whether you’ve experienced it or done it, this podcast aims to shed some light on how to be there for yourself, or someone you love, when they’re not okay.
I'm also going to help you navigate negative feelings. Those emotions aren't bad, they're there for a reason but chances are you've never been taught how to process them. Since you've never been taught how to handle them you might avoid them, push them away, or distract from them instead. In this podcast I'm going to offer you a different option. One that will help you be right where you are so you can eventually get where you want to go.

Who do you want to be? It’s an important question to consider.
It not only shapes who you will become in the future but it has an even greater influence on who you are today.
If you are well acquainted with your future-self, congratulations! You’re on an exciting, fulfilling journey of self discovery.
If you’re just going through the motions of life and have never stopped to ask yourself this question, consider this an invitation to do so.
If you have a vague idea of who it is you want to become then you have a vague chance of ever becoming that person.
Wherever you are on this spectrum, this podcast is about getting clarity on this important question and I will make it easy for you.
I have a simple two step process that will help you become the person you want to be. And when I say simple, I mean it.
We tend to make things harder than they need to be so I’m keeping it simple. Take a listen and get to know your future-self!

Love is all around us. We see it on TV. We celebrate Valentine's Day. We tell the people we care about just how much we love them but when was the last time you showed yourself that same kind of love and compassion?
We spent so many years in school yet no one ever taught us how to love ourselves. That's what this podcast is about. We're going to explore what is self love, why it's important, why it can be hard to do and how to cultivate it?
The relationship you have with yourself is the only true life long relationship you're going to have. Why not make it the love of your life?

Trust helps bring us closer to people. When we trust our family and friends, we believe they have our best interests at heart, have our backs and will be there for us when we need it. Trust is the foundation of any health relationship - including the one you have with yourself.
Do you have your own best interests at heart?
Do you have your own back?
Will you be there for yourself when you need it most?
Learning how to trust yourself is one of the most important things you can do to create the life you want.
In this episode I’ll focus on
-What is self trust?
-Why so many of us struggle with it?
-What to do to rebuild it?
There’s no one more important to trust than yourself. This podcast will help you do just that.

This episode is all about perspective. What is it? Why is it important and how to shift it?
Your perspective is the lens through which you see life. It’s how you look at what’s happening around you and it impacts everything! Being aware of it and shifting it is one of the most important practices you can learn.
Oftentimes we are unaware of our own perspective. We go through our day thinking and behaving in a way that feels normal to us even if we don’t like it.
In this episode I’ll teach you how to find your current perspective and what to do to shift it so you can get more of what you want out of life.

Have you ever been punched in the gut? Thankfully, I haven't physically taking a slug to the stomach but I have definitely taken a few emotional gut punches. In fact, I'm recovering from a few of them as we speak. Because of that, I wasn't going to put out an episode this week but I decided to hit record and see what happened. This is what happened. It's me raw, real and hopefully relatable. I hope you get something out of it. If not, there's always next week.

A year from now you could be an entirely different person. Not a ‘better’ person but a ‘different’ one. So who do you want to be?
The new year brings with it new possibilities and opportunities. You can have whatever it is you truly want, if you do the work. Life is just like school. If you don’t do the work you fail. We tend to forget that as we become adults. This podcast is going to serve as your reminder to decide who you want to be, what you want to do and the small steps you can take today that will get you there.
Hurry up … your future self is waiting for you.

Do you have a hard time relaxing? If so, YOU'RE NOT ALONE!!!!!
Sure, your butt’s sitting on the couch but your mind’s busy running a mile a minute. That’s the total opposite of relaxing … It's exhausting. We have this odd relationship with relaxation. It’s something most of us chase but when we finally catch it we don’t know what to do with it.
In this podcast I’ll discuss why it’s so hard to relax, how our addiction to being busy plays into this and why being uncomfortable is the key to relaxing more. I’ll also give you three ways to take your relaxation to the next level.

Real quick … How often do you celebrate you? Do you pat yourself on the back and acknowledge your work? How often do you acknowledge what it’s taken to get you where you currently are?
Most of us don’t celebrate ourselves or pat ourselves on the back much, if at all. We find it’s easier to high five and hug other people than it is to cheer ourselves on.
We tend to think that if we celebrate too much it will make us soft. If we take our foot off the gas then we won’t get what we want. There’s always more to do and if we celebrate and acknowledge too much then we won’t push ourselves to get to the next level.
In this podcast I’ll talk about how we’ve grown to associate self criticism with achievement and why that doesn’t work. I’ll also give you a simple tool you can use today to start celebrating your small achievements and victories.
I’m inviting you to celebrate MORE and criticize LESS. Not only does that feel better, it is the secret to creating momentum in your life. When you have that positive momentum you’ll achieve and succeed so much faster and feel so much better working towards your goals.

We all know the difference between a best friend and a bully. A best friend supports you while a bully knocks your feet out from under you. A best friend has your back while a bully talks behind it and stabs you in it. Chances are you’ve known or experienced both in your life. What if I told you there’s a best friend and bully that are both living within you.
We are both our own best friend and worst bully. We have the ability to cheer ourselves on like no one else can but also tear ourselves down in extremely destructive ways.
In this episode I’ll share with you my 3 step process for becoming more of your own best friend and less of the bully in your brain.

Do you get anxious when there's conflict? Are you unwilling to get into an argument with anyone about anything? About The Host:
For nearly two decades of her life, Pamela Hughes had a microphone in front of her face. After graduating from Arizona State University with a degree in broadcast journalism, she started her news career with a brief stint in western Wisconsin before making her way back to the Grand Canyon State. In Phoenix, Pamela quickly climbed the newsroom ladder and started teaching the next generation of journalists at ASU. She knows what it’s like to chase the big story as a journalist, inform an audience as an anchor, and oversee an entire operation as a news director. She spent the final six years of her news career as the only female talk show host in Phoenix.
While Pamela loved connecting with her audience and bringing them the big stories of the day, the grind and negativity of the news cycle took its toll. In an effort to help navigate the growing emotional demands of her high profile career, the desire to be an exceptional mom and a great wife, Pamela got a Life Coach. That one decision changed her life.
Her coach helped her discover the hidden power of thoughts. She started to manage her mind and was amazed at how that transformed her life. Pamela decided to quit telling people what was wrong in the world and started to help people discover what was right within their own world.
Now, Pamela helps people take back their power to create the life they once envisioned for themselves. Her primary focus is on creating an awareness of how you're thinking so you can create the results you want. Whether you're are stuck in life or their career, she can help you finally take the action you've been putting off.
Life can be hard. Like, REALLY hard sometimes. A traumatic event takes place or an unexpected diagnosis is made and all of a sudden life smacks you upside the head and you don't know what to do. I've had it happen. You may have too. The hard stuff sucks in the moment but after some space, time and healing takes place, there's a lot to learn from it if you look for the lessons.
Then there are the times when we make life harder than it needs to be. Life didn't smack us upside the head, we're doing it to ourselves. We believe the negative stories running through our brain. We buy into the idea that something is hard and therefore we gather all the evidence to prove it is. This is when we should challenge our brains and make it easier on ourselves.
That is what this podcast is about. Letting the hard stuff be hard and how to make everything else easier.

Have you ever heard the saying, ‘Don’t sweat the small stuff.’ It’s true and a very valuable practice ... if you’re not already stressed out. But if your stress level is super high, it doesn’t matter how small the stuff is, it can feel really big! Has this happened to you?
If you feel like your stress level is way too high and you find yourself getting irritated and annoyed with small things then this is the podcast for you. I’ll explain why small things become big and I’ll give you three small things you can do to lower your stress level and create a little breathing room for yourself.

Do you ever get frustrated because you don't know the 'right' decision to make? Or you're afraid of doing things the 'wrong' way? It's totally normal! We all do it. But what if I told you there really is no 'right' or 'wrong' way to do things? There's just the way you choose to do them.
For some of you this idea is going to be extremely freeing. For others, you are going to have massive resistance to it. Wherever you are with it is totally fine. Either way, I invite you to explore this concept with me in this podcast. My goal is to help you loosen the grip on 'right' and 'wrong' and empower you to make decisions and move forward. By doing so, you will learn what is 'right' and 'wrong' for you by taking action.

The average American spends almost 70 minutes a day following the news in some fashion. It dominates our conversations, sets political agendas and shapes our view of people and the world. So why is the news so negative?
As a former broadcast professional, I have a unique perspective on this topic. If you feel more pessimistic and panicked and less informed and calm after consuming news than this episode is for you. More and more people are feeling this way. You are definitely NOT alone! I'll explain the two main reasons why I think the news is so negative. I'll also give you two strategies to help you strike a balance between being informed and feeling overwhelmed.
I believe we all have a responsibility to be informed but it shouldn't come at the cost of your mental health.

Worrying is a waste of time. There, I said it. It’s true! While it’s perfectly normal to worry, the reality is it’s not accomplishing anything beneficial. There's a cost to it with no reward. That's because worrying doesn’t 𝓹𝓻𝓮𝓿𝓮𝓷𝓽 a thing. No, it’s not preparing you for what ‘might’ happen. No, it’s not helping you find a solution. No, it doesn’t mean you ‘care’.
There’s a big difference between problem solving and worrying. With problem solving, there’s an actual problem you can solve. Worrying is more about a potential problem that may or may not happen that you may or may not have the ability to do anything about. It’s a solution in search of a problem.
Worrying has you playing out umpteen million different scenarios in your head that will never take place. Just because you focus on the worst case scenario doesn’t mean you prevent bad things from ever happening. It just means you get to experience the worst case scenario in your mind over and over and over again. #Notfun
Now, I’m not here to beat up on you. I’m here to help you. I hope to shift your perspective a bit and create compassion for why you worry but also show you why it doesn’t help. In my podcast this week I take a look at why you worry. What you think you’re getting from it but what you’re actually getting instead. Then I walk you through three ways you can wrangle your worry and quiet that chatter in your brain to finally get some relief. I hope you’ll join me.

When was the last time you mentioned how busy you are? Maybe someone asked how you were doing and you said, ‘I’m busy.’ 𝙱𝙴𝙴𝙽 𝚃𝙷𝙴𝚁𝙴. 𝙳𝙾𝙽𝙴 𝚃𝙷𝙰𝚃! Ever feel like we’re all competing for who has the most to do in the least amount of time? Recently I started to realize there’s no badge for busyness, and even if there were, I don’t want it. We’ve normalized busyness and in some cases, become addicted to it. In this episode I’ll explore some of the reasons we’re doing so much and provide some real world advice for how to find more balance and less busyness.

What if I told you being weird isn’t a bad thing?
In fact, everyone is weird because everyone is different. Your weirdness is what makes you memorable. It’s what makes you, you. Yet so many of us struggle with being different or showing that side of ourselves.
If you hide those parts of you that are weird or different for fear of being judged, left out or laughed at, this podcast is for you.

You've probably heard the saying, '𝒯𝒽𝑒 𝑜𝓃𝓁𝓎 𝓉𝒽𝒾𝓃𝑔 𝒸𝑜𝓃𝓈𝓉𝒶𝓃𝓉 𝒾𝓃 𝓁𝒾𝒻𝑒 𝒾𝓈 𝒸𝒽𝒶𝓃𝑔𝑒.' If that's true (which I believe it is), why do we struggle to make the changes we want in life?
Maybe you want to change your relationship. Maybe, you want to change your diet. Maybe, you want to change the amount of money you're making. What's standing in your way of making that change?
Most people think they just need to find the right strategy and system and once they find it, everything will fall into place. Guess what ... that kind of thinking is going to keep you stuck right where you are.
So what do you do? In this podcast we'll explore the different between the words CAN'T and WON'T and the emotional impact they have on you. We'll also take a look at how you view change and the impact that has on your ability to make the changes you want in life.
𝕊𝕟𝕖𝕒𝕜 ℙ𝕖𝕒𝕜: It's less about what you do and more about how you think. Strategies and systems are important but support is critical to success.
Remember, any life is a life of change.
If you found out you only had two years left to live, what changes would you make?
What's holding you back from making those changes right now?

Do you want to change your past? Are there a few things you wish didn’t happen? Maybe a few things you’d do differently if you could do them again? We all do!
While you can’t change what happened in your past you 𝘾𝘼𝙉 change how you relate to it.
We all have a story about our past. In this podcast we’re going to take a look at whether that story is pushing you forward or whether it’s holding you back and how to shift your perspective on a story that’s no longer working for you.
𝙷𝚎𝚛𝚎’𝚜 𝚊 𝚜𝚗𝚎𝚊𝚔 𝚙𝚎𝚊𝚔: You don’t need to change your past to have it affect you differently. You need to change your thinking about the past.

We all experience problems, challenges and struggles in life.
Whatever you call them, they can really throw you for an emotional whirlwind. I know, I was in one for the last few weeks.
In this podcast I’ll tell what I did to not only survive the emotional tornado but come out the other side of it stronger.
I’ll share with you the questions I asked that helped me learn from the experience instead of getting overwhelmed by it and how shifting your perspective is critical to finding a solution.

We’ve all experienced it. Some more than others and at different times in our life. I’m talking about STRESS!
That tightness in your chest, shoulders or jaw. The racing heart with racing thoughts. The feeling of being overwhelmed and trapped.
Stress sucks but it’s also part of life. So today we’re going to talk about how to deal with it. I’m joined by my friend and Nurse Practitioner, Michelle Amado. She is the owner of Wingfoot Wellness & Hormone and specializes in rebalancing your body.. She’s the one people go to when they’ve tried everything else and nothing has worked. (That’s how I found her too.)
Michelle and I talk about how emotional stress leads to a whole host of physical problems. She explains what happens in your body when you’re overwhelmed and what you can do about it to feel better. She also shares the one thing you can do today that will have a significant impact on your stress level.
If you’re part of the 60% of Americans who experience daily stress and worry, this is an episode you don’t want to miss.

If you change the belief first, then changing the action is easier. -𝒫𝑒𝓉𝑒𝓇 𝑀𝒸𝒲𝒾𝓁𝓁𝒾𝒶𝓂𝓈
Our beliefs shape who we are, what we do and the kind of life we live. Beliefs are POWERFUL and impact all aspects of our life.
So why do you believe what you believe? Have you ever thought about that? Most people haven’t but today I invite you to dig into that question and see what you discover.
Throughout our lives we’re exposed to all these thoughts and beliefs both directly and indirectly, and most of them are now so ingrained we don’t even know they’re there.
Just like a fish is unaware it’s in water, we’re often unaware of the thoughts we’re thinking and the beliefs we are creating.
Until now!!!
In this podcast I’m going to share with you where our beliefs come from, how they are created, the impact they have on our lives and how to change them.
If you feel stuck and can’t get out of your own way, then this is the podcast you need to listen to.

Everything you do now is for your future. Read that again!
There’s a reason the windshield is bigger than the rear view mirror. That’s because what’s in front of you is more important than what’s behind you.
We know that but many of us still spend so much time living in the past.
Instead of creating the future we want, we recreate the part of life we’ve already lived. We do this because it’s what we know. It’s what’s comfortable! Doing something new, creating something new, setting a new goal is scary because you don’t have evidence from your past to prove you can do it.
In this episode we’re talking about being past focused versus future focused. I’ve invited one of my closest friends and biggest cheerleaders on to talk about creating the future you want. Ken Moskowitz is a best selling author, who has been featured in Forbes and Entrepreneur magazine, he’s a speaker, business coach, founder and CEO of three successful businesses, but most importantly to me, one of my best friends.
We talk about honoring your past without being held back by it. We also discuss the importance of knowing what you want and surrounding yourself with people who will support you in achieving it.
Your future is ahead of you. Go get it!

Have you ever blamed someone for how you feel? You think, If they didn’t do this or if they didn’t say that, then you wouldn’t feel this way.
That’s giving someone A LOT of power over you.
If you’re like me, and not a fan of giving your power away, then it’s time to start taking some emotional responsibility for yourself.
In this podcast episode I’m going to lay out how to stop blaming others for how you feel and how to start owning your own emotions.
When you start taking responsibility for everything you feel, you take control of your life. We’ll explore where your feelings come from, why two different people can feel totally different about the same situation, and the freedom that comes with taking emotional responsibility.

Do you want clarity and purpose in your life? Most people do! What if I told you one of the best ways to get that is through constraint.
What the heck does that mean?
This is the whole, less is more philosophy.
It means putting limitations on yourself to simplify your life. Marie Kondo calls it ‘sparking joy’ others may call it minimalism, I call it constraint.
It’s the subtraction of distraction, the calming of the chatter, the focus of moving forward. IT’S TAKING ONE STEP AT A TIME.
We’ve been conditioned to think more is better. To do all the things, all the time, all at once. Yeah, how’s that working out for ya?
Let me be clear, more doesn’t mean better it just means more. In fact, more can be overwhelming. Have you ever sat down to watch tv, turned on Netflix and spent the next 20 minutes trying to figure out what to watch? Yeah, ME TOO! Again, more doesn’t mean better, it just means more.
In this episode I’ll examine ...
The simplicity that comes with fewer options.
How constraint can reduce the stress of overwhelm in your life.
How imposing limitation isn’t restrictive but freeing.
While most people believe that there is no such thing as too many choices, too many of them may actually paralyze you and prevent you from making any decisions or at least ones that last.
I’ll help you with that today!

You’ve heard the saying, when you have your health you have everything. When you don’t have your health, nothing else matters.
I never realized this before but every time I heard that saying I automatically thought they were talking about physical health. While I agree that your physical health is critical, I find it interesting how most people don’t put the same emphasis on their mental and emotional health.
Think about it … when you have your MENTAL health you have everything. When you don’t have your MENTAL health, nothing else matters. That fits too.
If you’ve ever been depressed, struggled with the challenges life throws at you or wrestled with anxiety, then you know what happens in your head can stop you in your tracks just like a broken bone or the flu.
So what does it mean to have modern emotional and mental health? That’s what I’m exploring in this podcast episode. I’ll take a look at how much life has changed and the added pressures we feel today and the peace that comes when you stop trying to be happy all the time.

Are you an overthinker? Does your brain fixate and spin on a thought like a dog chews and grinds on a bone? You start thinking about something your boss said and before you know it your brain is telling you you’re going to get fired, lose your house and be out on the street!
PUMP THE BREAKS!!!!! No one is losing anything or going anywhere!!!
Your brain does this because it’s trying to protect you! Ever notice you don’t ‘overthink’ all the amazing stuff in your life? You tend to ‘overthink’ all the scary stuff. In this podcast I’ll explain why that is, what fear has to do with it and how to upgrade your thoughts to help stop overthinking.
If you don’t control your thoughts, your thoughts will control you. The crazy thing is we’ve never been taught how to do that … until now. This episode is packed with a ton of tools and techniques to help you clean out the clutter in your mind and how to train your brain to work for you instead of against you.

I love a good conversation. An opportunity to sit down with someone I care about, tune out the rest of the world and hear what’s going on in their head. Connection is important to me and I connect best through conversation. That’s why I place such a high value on good communication.
Communication is what we say and how we say it. It’s key in bridging the gap between confusion and clarity. Good communication is an art. It’s a skill you can develop through practice.
Communication can make or break marriages, relationships and businesses. It is so important that for the first time ever on my podcast, I’ve invited a guest on to share their expertise in this critical area. Rob Hunter is a Communications Coach with Painted Porch Strategies. With 20+ years in the radio industry, Rob has communicated some of the biggest stories in modern history to the masses.
In this podcast we discuss the reason effective communication is critical and how it impacts every facet of your life. How your internal communication (how you talk to yourself) is probably holding you back, and Rob shares one thing you can do right now to become a better communicator.
I hope you’ll join me for fun conversation with two friends who want to share what we’ve learned in hopes of making your life just a little bit easier.

𝘍𝘦𝘦𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘴 𝘨𝘦𝘵 𝘢 𝘣𝘢𝘥 𝘳𝘢𝘱. Anytime I bring up the word ‘feelings’ there’s always one person who rolls their eyes and thinks we’re going to sit in a circle and cry. (𝙸𝚏 𝚢𝚘𝚞'𝚟𝚎 𝚎𝚟𝚎𝚛 𝚖𝚎𝚝 𝚖𝚎 𝚢𝚘𝚞 𝚔𝚗𝚘𝚠 𝚝𝚑𝚊𝚝'𝚜 𝚗𝚘𝚝 𝚝𝚛𝚞𝚎.)

This episode is all about mindset. Mindset management to be specific. Mindset is a word that gets thrown around a lot these days. I don’t say that like it’s a bad thing. I LOVE the fact that so many people are talking about it but it’s important to define it so we’re all on the same page.
Your mindset is simply the set of beliefs you have surrounding what’s possible in life.
If you don’t pay attention to your thoughts then your mindset can really be holding you back.
This really is THE most important skill to develop because it is going to determine the quality of your life.
So we’re going to take a look at where your mindset comes from. What to do to shift your mindset and I’ll also give you a few beliefs you can borrow to help make that shift on your own.
But, if you need extra help shifting your mindset, click here to schedule a free coaching chat with me to see how I can help you make that change.

You’ve heard the saying, ‘expect the unexpected.’
When the unexpected happens in life, what do you do? Do you react or do you have a plan?
Believe it or not, you CAN plan for the unexpected. I’m not talking about an emergency fund or a bug out bag or anything (even though those aren’t bad ideas 😉). I’m talking about deciding who you want to be in an unexpected situation. Do you want to be frustrated, stressed and annoyed or do you want to be focused, calm and resilient? Both options are available to you. Which one feels better?
If you view the unexpected as an obstacle then you’ll find a lot of obstacles to be frustrated, stressed and annoyed about.
If you view the unexpected as an opportunity then you’ll find a lot of opportunities to be focused, calm, and resilient.
It all starts in your head with what you’re thinking. That’s what I’m talking about in this weeks podcast cast. Tune in to find out …
How resisting the unexpected makes it worse.
How we’ve become addicted to certainty.
How trying to make sense of everything creates so much stress.
What to do when the unexpected happens and the secret to surviving i

‘First, we make our choices, then our choices make us.’
It’s estimated that we make nearly 35,000 choices every day. What direction are your choices taking you?
We spend a lot of time thinking about the BIG choices in life, whether to get married, take the job, have children, and we neglect to pay attention to the small choices we consistently make every day.
The choice to work out or sleep in. The choice to watch tv or go to bed. The choice to eat at home or pick something up at the drive-thru.
In today’s podcast, you’ll learn how those small choices have a BIG impact on who you become, why saying you ‘have to’ or ‘need to’ do anything is a lie, and I’ll give you some tips and tricks on how to make better choices.
If you’re struggling to create the life you’ve always wanted and feel stuck, take the first step to wiggle loose by scheduling a free coaching session with me. Click here to get started.
If life is the sum of your choices, choose wisely!

When was the last time you said 'I don't know?'
Did the words 'I don't know' just pop into your brain? Funny how that happens!

I learned a lot from paying attention to how often those three little words popped up and I started to notice the BIG impact they had.
I can't wait to share with you everything I discovered so in this podcast we'll take a look at ..
The dysfunctional relationship we have with those words
The reasons we say, 'I don't know'
What that phrase is costing us
What to do when we catch ourselves saying it
How to figure out the answer

If I were to ask you right now, what do you want, what would you say?
What do you REALLLY want in life? Have you ever taken the time to sit down and answer that question? A lot of people don’t. Many of us tiptoe around it and have this vague idea of it but never get clarity on what it is we truly want in our lives.
-OR- Maybe you know EXACTLY what you want but haven’t taken the steps to get it or have a bunch of reasons why you can’t have it.
If you fall into either of those camps then this podcast is for YOU!
In it you’ll learn …
If you don’t know what you want, it’s difficult to ask for or get it.
So if you don’t know what you want, I have some questions you can ask yourself to find out.
It’s okay to want what you want but first you need to know what that is.

Have you ever thought, I have too much to do? Ever notice when you think you have to much to do ... you do nothing?
Have you ever thought, I can do the laundry (return a phone call/schedule that appointment) anytime? Ever notice when you think you can do it anytime ... you never pick a time to actually do it?
Today’s podcast is all about THOUGHTS! Those simple sentences that run through our brains. How often do you pay attention to what you’re thinking? Most people don’t. Thoughts pop into our mind all the time but we don’t spend a lot of time exploring what those thoughts are creating in our lives.
In this podcast you’re going to learn …
-How paying attention to your thoughts can change your life.
-How your thoughts create your feelings.
-How to take back your power in any situation.
The way you think about situations in life will determine your experience of them. The moment you know that is the minute you’re able to control yourself in any situation.
It all starts with your thoughts!

Do you have so many responsibilities that you forget to take care of yourself? Me too! We have jobs to go to, kids to take care of, relationships to nurture, groceries to buy, kids games to attend, calls and texts to return.
Sure, it’s hard to prioritize yourself when your to-do list is never ending but self care is a big part of stress management! I realize self care has been commercialized by the wellness industry but I’m here to tell you it doesn’t have to be expensive. Heck, it doesn’t have to cost you anything.
Sometimes the best way to take care of yourself is by letting someone else take care of you.
Sometimes self care is … letting the grandparents take the kids, so you can take a break.
Sometimes self care is … buying cookies from the bakery instead of making them yourself.
Sometimes taking care of yourself means you are taking care of others.

Have you ever had a song stuck in your head? One that you just can't get out of you mind? I've had one stuck lately. It's called 'Feelin Groovy' and it starts with the lyrics, 'slow down you move too fast...' That song is probably stuck in my head right now because I really should slow down. I'm moving too fast and getting a bit overwhelmed.
Have you ever experience that? It's easy to get into the habit of rushing around, being in such a hurry and thinking there is better than here. I call that, 'Better When Thinking.'
In this podcast I'll clearly define 'Better When Thinking,' explain why there isn't better than here, and how so much suffering in your life is optional. And because music is such an important part of my life that has helped me through some really difficult times, I've put together a playlist for you. It's called Pamela's Pandemic Playlist. These are the songs that I'm cranking right now. The ones that are motivating me and helping me get through these challenges times.
I'm sharing them hoping they'll inspire you, help you and hopefully put a smile on your face.
You can find the playlist here. Turn it up and chill out!

She knows what it’s like to chase the big story as a journalist, inform an audience as an anchor, lead a team as a managing editor and oversee an entire operation as a news director. Her primary focus is on creating an awareness of how they are thinking so they can create the results they want. Whether they are stuck in life or their career, she helps folks finally take the action they’ve been putting off. Click here to schedule a free session.
It's probably the most common thought we have and yet the one we talk about the least.
'I'm not good enough.'
Those four words are full of shame, judgement and fear. They're also the four words that are at the root of so much self doubt and pain.
I'm not smart enough. I'm not skinny enough. I'm not talented enough. I'm not rich enough. I'm not pretty enough. ENOUGH!!!!!!!!!!!!
In this episode I dive into what's behind this way of thinking, why it's there and what you can do to wiggle that thought loose. I hope you'll join me!
If you need some help with self-doubt, please reach out. I offer a free session where we can explore where you're at now and where you want to be. Just go to my website pamelahughescoaching.com and click on the ‘Get Started’ button. You can do this and I can help!
