Emma Hakansson always thought of herself as an animal lover, but her actions didn't always align. Emma was on exchange in Sweden when she made the connection with the animals on her plate. A year later at age 16, Emma went completely vegan and started attending demonstrations and volunteering with animal rights organisations.

At the same time, Emma began modelling through an agency as she enjoyed the aesthetics and creativity involved. She quickly became conscious of her values and felt a sense of duty, care and love for everyone on earth - human and non- human animals, and the planet.

All these issues came together and Emma decided to work towards creating ethical fashion by founding a non profit organisation called Collective Fashion Justice (CFJ). CFJ's objective is to create a total ethics fashion system that values and protects the lives and wellbeing of human and non-human animals, as well as the planet.

CFJ recently released a mini documentary called "Willow and Claude" which follows the lives of two lambs, highlights injustices in the wool industry, ethical knitwear and alternatives fabrics. CFJ also works in collaboration with other organisations such as Animal Justice Party fighting for a ban on the sale of fur in Melbourne and Victoria.

In this episode, Emma shares her experiences in the modelling industry, fostering lambs, working collaboratively to achieve common objectives and how to source total ethical fashion items as a consumer.
