Mark 1:21-28 introduces us to the idea of spiritual authority. Authority is discerned by people, recognized by evil spirits and is of great benefit to humanity. Our response to Jesus’ spiritual authority is like the first people who hear Jesus: astonishment, then amazement, then we talk about Jesus with others: conversation. Astonishment, amazement, and conversation are ways that the good news of Jesus spreads through society.
