"The quality of our lives depends not on whether or not we have conflicts, but on how we respond to them."
-Thomas Crum

Conflict, much life death and taxes, is a undeniable part of all our our lives. We get into disagreements about which sports team will win the Super Bowl, who's gonna win the Voice, and the number of times you have forgotten to do the dishes when your roommate "asked" you to. So, if conflict is an unavoidable aspect of life, how can we learn to master it and make sure it doesn't tear apart the relationships we've worked so hard to build?

This week's episode is part 2 of our conversation with University of Oklahoma's communication professor, Dr. John Banas. He specializes in persuasive theory, interpersonal relationships, how to resist persuasive messaging, and how communication affects relationships. He won the John H. and Jane M. Patten Teaching Award from the University of Oklahoma in 2017, as well as the 2019 award for the top paper in the Health Communication Division from the National Communcation Association.

Throughout our conversation we dig deep into arguments and how to present them, we cover conflicts within relationships, the right time to be confrontational, in-group vs out-group persuasiveness, how to talk through emotionally charged situations to have positive discussions, and so much more!!
