"If you don't like something, change it. If you can't change it, change your attitude." ~ Maya Angelou.
I love this quote and it is so true! There are so many things in life that are outside of our control like the weather, other peoples opinions of you, how someone reacts, a diagnosis - but in the midst of these situations, there are always things we CAN control.
In this episode, I'm chatting with my sweet friend, Hannah Blandford about learning to put yourself in a mindset to focus on things you CAN control rather than the things you can't.
You've all probably heard the saying, life is 10% of what happens to you and 90% how you respond to it. Yes, someone may treat you unkindly or you may receive devastating news, but what happens next and how you react will set the tone for your day, your week and eventually your life. Hannah shares with us some ways she has learned to gravitate more towards what she can control and some tips that help keep her grounded when things aren't within her control. I believe the wisdom she shares with you, will help keep you focused on ways you, yourself can put into practice as you continue down your daily path.
I close the episode with the Serenity prayer which I think ties it up in a pretty little bow.
God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can and the wisdom to know the difference. ~ The Serenity PrayerYes, there will be things that happen in your life that are outside of your control. "Life Happens," so the saying goes. But how you show up, and respond in every situation will determine how it affects you. When life's not fair, seek to find the things you can control and learn to let go of the rest.
Some of the books talked about in today's episode are:
Self Compassion, by Kristen Neff
The Gifts of Imperfection, by Brene' Brown
The Untethered Soul, by Michael Singer
